Hey all.

So I have managed to secure a Studio at SSR for the first week in May. I've never stayed in a studio at a DVC property.

I've done some research alread, videos, pictures, descriptions etc. etc.

So far one question has come from the family - is there a DVD player in the Studios? Any other information that isn't readily available would be great.

I know there will be other questions and I was unsure where to post this thread - thanks for your insights.

Yes, there is a DVD player. We usually stay in studios on our trips and have rented movies from Community Hall to entertain DD when her toys have bored her by the second day.

Good to know. Funny thing is though .. it's for DW .. she enjoys watching some of her Disney favs while on vacation.

So we'll probably bring a bunch of DVDs with us.

Are the TVs CRTs or LCDs? Do you recall?

We're really anxious to experience the DVC experience as it may be something that we'd be interested in further down the road. Well I'm hoping anyways.

Not sure at SSR. Last time we stayed there was in 2009 and I think they were CRTs

CRTs were being replaced when we were there last but hadn't hit our section yet. Also, DVDs can be checked out from the "library" at the Artist's Point/shop area. They have the traditional selections but it may save you having to pack them.
Have a great time. SSR is peaceful, quiet, and convenient to DTD. We love it.

OK so more questions...Mainly just DVC related.

We are renting points to stay in our studio. Will the KTTW card work the same with regards to charging things back to the room? Obviously I would be providing my CC for the account, but I am not familiar with the DVC set up.

I know that T&T service is on day 4. However, if we were in need of towels sooner would we be able to just call mousekeeping, or are we on our own at that point?

Sorry a DVC newbie.

Thanks.

We are staying at SS too after our cruise...Should I request a certain area? We have never been to this resort. Thanks!

the DVC setup is the same as for disney deluxe hotels, so yes, you can charge to your room key if you give the front desk a credit card.

you would call mousekeeping to get extra towels. be aware that - as a timeshare - DVC charges extra for an additional towel pack ($6).

Thanks for the info! So let me see if I get this right...The Springs is 1st bus stop on and off, near the main bldg and pool and near boat to DDD? Congress Park is within walking distance of DDD and is the last pickup/dropoff on the bus? I have a 7 year old and we only have4 1/2 days at the parks after the cruise but I would like to see some of the resort while cramming in some DDD time and park time! LOL

congress park is close to DTD but i think springs is close to last or last on the bus route. i believe people at the springs stop have had to wait on a few occasions when the bus was already full.

looks like grandstand is first on and off.

this might be a better thread to ask your question on:
