Hello! Looking for some input. Heading to SSR in mid November for 10 nights. Just DH and myself. We’re in our late 50’s. No car. Standard studio. Doing 50/50 park and resort days. Considering requesting Grandstand area. Is it safe to assume that the Backstretch Pool Bar will be closed during that time? Is the mug refill station only open if the bar is open? Can you walk to DS by utilizing the bridge that crosses over to the west side of DS? Open to any other location suggestions. We enjoy being in an active area. Would Paddock be a better request? Haven’t stayed at SSR since 2008. We were in the newly finished Grandstand area on that trip. Stayed in Congress Park in 2007. Enjoyed the proximity to DS, but we are booked standard not preferred for this trip. Not thrilled about parking lot views either. Thanks!

I always request grandstand. Ask for the building next to the pool - great views of the golf course.

The drinks machine usually remains open even when the pool bar is closed.

Yes, you can walk over the bridge to the west side of DS. Takes 10 minutes.

Wouldn’t describe the grandstand as an active area, but you are 3-4 mins from the main lobby, pool and quick service so always plenty going on there.

Thank you for the info! I guess I should have said we don’t enjoy being in an area that feels isolated, rather than we enjoy being in an active area. If that makes sense lol.

The room request you suggested sounds great!

I actually like the Paddock. Usually ask for a water view.

Thank you! If you’re in a building near the Paddock pool, is the walk to DS reasonable? We’re not athletes or anything, but we don’t mind a 10-15 minute walk. Would rather do that than a bus.

The walk is reasonable. Another option if it’s hot or you’re tired is to hop the bus at the Paddock pool to the Congress Park stop and walk from there. One stop, so quick.
