SSR Resale - banking point question

I apologize if this issue has been asked before. I am new with DVC Resale and just signed a contract for SSR Resale. This contract is for Sep UY and it has points from 2010 available.

Assuming this contract to be submitted to Disney next week for ROFR and adding 60 days to close the deal (of course, crossing my fingers for passing ROFR), I am looking at Mid April closing.

I also believe that I need to add 2 - 3 wks to get my name on Disney system, which make it possible that I will be past the deadline to bank the point for 2010 (please correct me if I am wrong).

1. What do I need to do if I decide to bank the points? We might plan to use the combine 2010 and 2011 to book Aulani.

2. If I bank the points, can I still use the point before Sep 2011, if I decide to stay for a short time in summer? (I am not sure about the rule of banking).

3. Do you think that I have to bank to give me more flexibility?

I might have some other questions later on, but any advice about this, I really appreciate it.

Thanks

If you are concerned about the banking deadline, you can always ask the seller to bank them for you now.

Once points are banked, you can not get them back. However, Iif you want to travel before September, you would then have to borrow some of your 2011 points back in to the 2010 UY to travel in the summer.

I think, even given the timeline, you should be an owner in time to bank by April 30th. I have also heard, however, that Disney does allow new owners to bank, even if a bit past the deadline.

Good luck and I hope you pass ROFR quickly. It seems like most things are getting through these days!

Thanks for the advice. Now I am glad knowing about banking and borrowing a bit more....

If in doubt, I would have the current owner bank the points. That way you are covered without any doubt.

DVC lets new direct purchasers bank past their deadline as a deal-sweetener, but I have not heard of them allowing the same for resale customers. I'd play it safe.
