I will be staying at SSR for the first time during my upcoming vacation in December. I would like to request a room close to the main pool. fitness center, and restaurant. Looking at the resort map online, it appears that the Springs, Grand Stand, and Congress Park are all in that area. Does anyone have suggestions for which area I should request? What are the benefits of each area? :confused3

The Springs is the closest area to the main pool, restaurants, etc.

The advantage of Congress Park is that it is the closest to DTD and depending upon your room, you may have a DTD view.

The advantage of Grandstand is that it is the newest area and the bus stop is close to the buildings. I believe that people have also reported that it has a nice pool area.

Grandstand does have a fantastic pool area (a 2nd feature pool), hot tub & pool bar :thumbsup2 It's also the 1st bus stop to be picked up & dropped off. The farthest bldgs out would be a bit of a hike to the Carriage House, but the bldgs by the pool are a quick walk.

Congress Park is closest to DTD, has a quiet pool & playground (IIRC).

Springs is closest to Carriage House, but that's about all I know about it.

We've been very happy with the Grandstand and have only stayed there. We did put my Dad & Stepmom in Congress Park, so they'd have easy bus transportation from DTD to BWV (where we were staying at the time)

Congress park is a bit of a hike to the main pool and main building. (of course depending on your room)... I would say the springs..

We stayed in the 8700's section of the Springs last month. Despite the 90 degree weather it was a bearable walk to the main pool, registration, rest. bus stops, and the boat dock. We enjoyed having the quiet pool right outside our building. We also enjoyed overlooking the golf fairway, and the boats on the river. I somehow got the feeling that anyone coming in on the Magical Express was placed close to the main area. The resort is huge. I'm hoping to get the same building in January 2009. At least I know it will be cooler. We loved watching the crane placing the prefab treehouses in place. That is a 'have-to- do" in the future.
