The pool is scheduled to be closed until 3/30. Anyone have any experience with pool refurbs, that might guess if this pool might open sooner than listed? We have toddlers and that zero entry is such a blessing! :goodvibes They said we could pool hop to OKW, but that doesn't help with the zero entry. Might they let us hop to AK or SAB (what's completed there) because our pool is closed? Probably not, but worth asking.

I am interested in this as well. I will be staying at SSR from March 17th through March 26th. I am a little disappointed the main pool will be closed. I don't have little ones anymore but it will make the neighborhood pools so much more crowded.

I know they have to stay on top of repairs and I respect that still makes me say a little .... darn it....to myself!

Guess I will have to consider a little pool hopping this time???

Here's the deal on pool hopping (a DVC perk):

"One of the perks of Disney Vacation Club ownership is the ability to "pool hop" to other Walt Disney World resort pools when using DVC points to stay at a Vacation Club resort. Two resorts' pools are currently excluded from the pool hopping rules: Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club and Uzima pool at AKL. Samawati Springs and Uwanja Camp will be added to the list of pools to which DVC members cannot pool hop."

I am at SSR right now and the main pool was crowded and the leisure pool at Congress park also crowded yesterday full of young spring breakers..at least 15 so can't imagine what is it going to be like the next few weeks:scared1:
there is another kids area over by Grandstand, that might have that entry but I don't remember it but there is a fountain area that kids would rather play in than the pool.

Is this one of the "quiet" pool areas? The only 2 quiet pools I've been at have had playgrounds nearby, but not a kids pool/splash area. The only splash area I knew about was the one at the main pool. Our little ones perfer to "swim" in the zero entry section than play over with the Donald splash things there. I would be interested in knowing where this area is. :) Thanks for the tip.

I know the basic pool hopping rules. I was just wondering if an exception would be made for folks staying at a resort where their pool was closed. I didn't think so but thought I would see what you all thought. :)

DVC won't make exceptions to the pool hopping restrictions. And unfortunately I wouldn't count on the refurb being completed early. It was initially scheduled to be done by March 27th and they've since pushed the estimate back to the 30th. That suggests they know they will need additional time.

There are three other pools at Saratoga Springs located in Congress Park, The Paddock and The Grandstand. None of them are zero entry, but they do have shallow stairways which are a bit shallower.

The pool in The Grandstand also has a fountain area with water guns for younger kids to enjoy.

And if it's not in black out dates, I think I remember that the volcano pool at the Polynesian has zero entry. It wouldn't be the most convenient to pool hop to, but I think it's an option.

Thanks so much! That's the info I was looking for. I'll have to remember the Grandstand. We're looking forward to a great trip!

I think I read somewhere that while they are refurbishing SSR main pool you can use the main pool at OKW

Even non-DVCer will be able to pool hop to OKW....

They will also continue with their daily poolside activites but will rotate around the 3 other pools. So there will still be pooliside games, poolside evening movies, etc.

I plan on setting up my own "bar" at Congress park's pool (if my request is honoured) so feel free to pop by! See you all on Wednesday!!
