SSR Referral valid if you are already "in system?"

Forgive me if this has been covered.. I haven't been on this corner of the DISin a couple weeks and I just stumbled into the details of this new SSR promotion. I'm trying to read all the threads about it and I'm sure I've missed some, but I read a couple people say that if you are already in the DVC database as being interested in DVC you cannot take advantage of the referral discount? But then I also read elsewhere people who have actually gone to contract, then found out about the new deal, gotten a referral, and had the contract rewritten. So what is the deal? I am already on my guide's radar, having flirted with DVC once a year or so since about the time BCV went on sale.

Or maybe you guys just meant the person referring you couldn't get a referral bonus if the person was in the system.

Clarification and help is appreciated.

I've been reading the posts regarding the 15% discount for the past week or so and decided to take the plunge today. I obtained the DVC DVD a few months ago and was worried about not being eligible for the referral discount.

When I called I asked about the referral promotion and provided my referral's name and location. I was asked if I was already in the system and I gave them my name and phone number. I was speaking with Eric and he stated my original guide was Rose and he tried to transfer me to her, but she was not scheduled at that time. He provided me with her direct 866 phone # and asked me to allow DVC to contact me (has to do with being on the do not call list in NJ).

I hung up with Eric. Went on the internet and authorized the DVC contact and within two hours I was telephoned by Rose. She explained everything to me and within 5 minutes, I was welcomed to the DVC. She said all the paperwork will come in the mail by Friday. Also, she was able to give me a use year in October instead of June, which works out better for me.

My brother took the tour in March and was/is in the system. He just bought last week and was able to purchase with my referral. He told me the price right now is less than what it was in March (even with the incentive that was offered at the time).


Do you remember who your guide was?

The DVC Member who "refers" you will not be eligible for any reward if you were already in the system. Many of us are not eligible anyway due to retrictions made by individual states, but there will not be a reward for a member who refers someone already in the system.

Does this also include someone who was already in the system as a referral? Or does is just apply if they add the name after to get the discount.

It appears that DVC has not denied anyone the discount if they were already in the system , nor should they IMO.

They have always been very insistent that any referral must have been made prior to the first contact with DVC (the referral needs to be the initial contact) in order for the member to be eligible for any reward.

I think the need for a member referral was more of a way to introduce this incentive than an actual limitation to receive the discount. DVC doesn't really care if anyone was already in their system to qualify for the discount- they have always cared about who made the first contact before awarding any referral reward though.

I called last week about buying 150 pts and my guide said I would get the new incentive. But he never asked for the referral. I have been talking with my guide for two years so I was already in the system. Got my paperwork yesterday and sent them off this morning. Just hope financing goes well.

Call your guide and provide the contact information for the person you wish to refer to DVC.

If they have not already made contact with DVC (and you live in a state where referral rewards are legal) you will get credit for the referral and get the reward after they purchase.
