SSR or CSR - Which would be best?

Hi, I'm looking to stay in Disney beginning June 22nd for 6 nights. I can book SSR-1Bdrm for 250 less than 2 rooms at CSR-regular room. Both include the free dining package and 5 day park hoppers. I've stayed at CSR in the past and we enjoy the resort. Our party is three adults, one child(8), and a one year old. We will have car. Which do you think is best? If SSR is the winner, which area should we request? Thanks for your help!

I would normally say SSR as you would have the washer and dryer and deluxe benefits for extra evening hours, but is the one adult comfortable sharing a bed with the eight year-old?

There is a king a pull down sofa, bed, and a twin flip down so only three beds in SSR.

You will have four beds at CSR.

Both resorts are bus only transportation although SSR also has the boat to Disney Springs. So to me, the question is does the extra bed outweigh extra evening hours and a washer and dryer in the room?

If you can bring an air mattress, 5 people in a 1 bedroom at SSR works perfectly. We've done it a few times. The added benefits of a full kitchen, balcony with beautiful views, and a washer/dryer at totally worth it.

I didn't mention the kitchen as I don't think it would get used much since they will have the Dining Plan but it is certainly nice to have. More space for bottles in the fridge with the baby and the ability to wash them in the dishwasher is nice as well.

These aren’t to scale and the SSR isn’t updated to show the single pulldown that was added more recently.

I’m assuming the CSR quote is not for Gran Destino Tower, right?

I’d probably go with SSR and the $250/nt savings.

Given you have the dining plan, IMO the big plus is the kitchen and you won’t use that much. You would also have 2 bathrooms at CSR. I do love SSR and love staying there, especially because of the smaller pools in the different areas. It is also closer to downtown Disney. So if you are spending as many days out of the park and in, and plan to use dining plan at downtown Disney/Disney Springs, that would be a plus for SSR. If you are going into the parks most every day and getting ready at the same time, CSR may work better.

CSR is fairly centrally located so in my mind it would be better for a parks trip. If you were doing a more resort heavy trip, I'd be inclined to book SSR.

You would have extended evening hours for deluxe guests at SSR. I vote for deluxe anytime I can get it, lol. I love CSR & the tower rooms are wonderful.

Great way to put it! I lean heavily SSR too.

SSR:
Saves $250/nt - significant!
Access to EEH (generally Mon is EP; Wed is MK; each 2 hours)
Balcony
Shorter distance to parking spot
Proximity to Disney Springs
Nicer room - things like CSR bathroom sink area is also the closet and has a curtain not a door, the furniture and finishings are more upscale, in-room laundry is likely helpful with baby/child, kitchen can still be useful for breakfast or snacks/leftovers, having space to hang out together, etc.

It’s good to watch a couple recent videos of the rooms. Alsolook at the resort layout maps.

Coronado Springs can be a lovely stay. It’s just in this case SSR 1BR seems to have much more value per dollar than 2 CSR rooms.

Just to be clear - the CSR quote is not for Gran Destino Tower, right?

Also, the free dining with SSR is the table service dining plan, while CSR would be the quick service plan. That might be a better value for you, you will have to pay for tips on TS meals, but you will have more options on the table service plan. You could use a TS credit at a QS (if you want, not the best value) but you can't use a QS credit at a TS location. The area at SSR will depend on the room type you book. Two rooms might be better if people have different sleeping habits, as no one would be sleeping in a living area and there would be 2 bathrooms. But, saving money, a better dining plan, and the opportunity for evening extra magic hours might steer me towards SSR, especially since you will have a car. Both resorts are pretty spread out and have multiple bus stops, SSR does have the boat to Disney Springs, which is so much better than the bus!

Can the 1yo sleep in a pack-n-play? If so, I’d do SSR, especially if you have a car. The other child could sleep on the pull-down twin with the adult in the Murphy bed. I’d stay there just for the w/d and kitchen, not to mention the other perks and huge savings!

This is a GREAT point, Regular DP vs just CSDP. That adds a ton of value. With SSR being the cheaper resort, plus deluxe extended hours and washer and dryer, I'm voting SSR. CSR is a great resort as well so it's tough to make a "bad" choice. Either will be great.

Yes not grand destino

I vote SSR. The washer and dryer and real fridge (and kitchen) instead of a beverage cooler would push me over the edge. Yes you will only have one bathroom but that just requires planning. Plus you get the deluxe evening hours which are so nice.

Thank you all for your replies. We are going to stay at SSR. The washer dryer is a huge plus and having a kitchen for breakfast is great too. The last time we stayed at CSR with adjoining rooms and SSR appears to have more usable space. Who wouldn't love a boat ride to Disney Springs and the extra evening hours? You have all made it an easy decision. So again, thank you. Now I just have research lightning lanes, dining reservations, and plan the rest.:)
