SSR- groceries

Does anyone know what the nearest grocery store to SSR is? Also, for anyone that has stayed at AKV- are the groceries in the SSR resort store about the same as at AKV. We know what they have at AKV, so just want to know what we can get there.

Nearest store is Goodings in the mall just at the end of Hotel Row. This is expensive and I did not like the selection. Next closest is a Winn-Dixie about a mile or two down the road (left or north) from the mall. Better selection and prices. Wal-mart has a store maybe about 3 miles to the right, or south of the mall. Big store and very busy. I have heard there is a Publix and Target close, but I have not visited these.

Thanks- sounds like I'll be heading to Walmart or Winn Dixie. Thanks!! I can get some cheap souveniers(sp?) at Walmart.

The only pitfall to Walmart is depending on the day it gets pretty crowded. Depending on what soveniers you're looking for you can try the gift shops on 535 also. We always shop at the Winn Dixie or Publix.

Winn Dixie!
Shopped there a couple of yrs. ago and it was
perfect! They had everything we needed and to my
surprise...then some...They also sold wine! Being
from Long Island our food stores aren't permitted
to sell wine...only beer. We had 4 adults and I
believe the cost for our 6 days, and we also ate
out 3 times, came to $130.00. This included
the staples like coffee, salt & pepper etc., snacks
and such...it was indeed alot cheaper than
Goodings...which my BIL & SIL shopped at on
our last trip in Aug . '08...didn't have the
heart to tell them they got "burned" on that
deal! Definately go to Winn Dixie...you won't
be disappointed!

Don't forget to sign up for the shopper's card for either Winn-Dixie, or Publix. Save's a few cents here and there.

We go to the Super Target nearby for all of our groceries and any other items needed for our stay. Great prices, very clean, and friendly cashiers.

If you have room in your suitcase, you might want to try shopping at the Dollar Store/Target/Disney Store for small Disney gifts prior to coming to WDW. I generally try to have several small items with me that either "Tinkerbell or Woody" delivers when the grandkids are napping or they magically appeared in my backpack for them while we are at the park. This helps to keep the cost down for one or two nicer gifts which they know cannot be purchased until the last day we are at WDW.
