Hi.

I am going to book a GV at SSR for next November 2020.

My only criteria is that I would like to be close to DTD. I dont care how far food court or pools will be from the Villa. I would also, hopefully, like to have a view of DTD. Having a refurbed room will be a plus.

Given above, do I book Preferred or Standard.

Thank you.

Yes, preferred view areas are Congress Park and the Springs. You could be placed in either,

So, once you book preferred, being placed in a Congress Park is only a request so you’ll have to put it in. Since that is the first section being refurbished, by the time of your trip, it should be done, So, if you get your request, you should end up with a room already completed

I have had good luck with that request! I will say, though, that depending on which section the refurbish next, could make it even more popular.

Good luck!

Thank you very much! This is exactly what I will request. CP.
Thanks!

I just did a count of my points (mock booking for October since same use of November points) since I am planning the five night GV SSR trip for next November 2020 and a week trip with my mom in September 2020. SSR is my home resort so I am going to book the GV next month. This leaves me with enough points to stay anywhere on site in September but in a studio, not a one bedroom like I hoped, which I guess is a first world problem since it's just my mom and me LOL

I don't know what I did yesterday, my dh and I checked it twice, but we certainly miscalculated our points for what we needed for a GV for five nights, but still doable (I had hoped for a GV for five nights and a one bedroom at GFVs for the September week).

I will need to book Standard for my GV at SSR, we really won't be in the room much but our focus is golf and DTD at night since it will be my dh and two other couples for our 30th anniversary. We will do 2 park days, maybe 3 but that is not the focus. I wanted the ease of walking to/from DTD but we are all able bodied and the walk will be fine but hoped for a DTD view and easier walk.

Now, after I book Standard GV at SSR, where am I asking to be? I still want the closest to DTD but guessing I will no longer have the view.

Thank you (again!).

We love the Grandstand section...close to Disney Springs boat launch, standard category and, first-on, first off buses to and from parks. Stayed in a GV there a few years back... the living room is a bit small but enjoyed extra bathroom on the first floor.

Thanks. Yes, the LR and the balcony are very small for the unit. We have stayed in SSR GV in 2011.
The bus stop is a nice perk but we are there for DTD at night and maybe 2 park days. Bus is my least concern.

Is the Grandstand section Standard?

Thanks.

Yes. Grandstand is standard. There is a walking path close to there that takes you to the west side of Disney Springs...come out near House of Blues.

The walking path from Congress Park brings you to the marketplace.

I have stayed at both and found both walks very manageable. All depends on where you see spending your time if it matters one way or the other.

Thank you very much. This made me feel much better.
I need to request Standard view so I have enough points for a week in September.

The majority of our nights will be spent in DTD. I am hoping that I can get Highway in the Sky at the beginning of our trip and then from there go back to a monorail resort for drinks or ToTW after watching the Fireworks at the Contemporary, where Highway ends with drinks/desserts. Other than that, I'm thinking DTD will be our go-to spot in evenings, that is the foundation of our trip LOL

Thank you.
