I have a question about the staircase in the SSR grand villas. I was thinking about bringing a baby gate to secure the top of the stairs and prevent my 2 year old from falling down them. Is the top of the staircase configured so I could use a pressure gate, or is it more open? Are there walls on either side of the top of the staircase so I could secure the gate?

My DS is a runner, and I'm having visions of him taking off down the hallway and tumbling right down the staircase. I'd like to try and avoid that if possible!

I took this photo of the bi-fold laundry doors this past November, and you can also see a little of what the top of the stairs look like. I'm not sure a pressure gate would work.

We had a similar worry about the stairs in a BWV GV this October. Mousekeeping brought us a gate but it didn't really work. We used the ironing board and put one end of it between the top post and the second post of the railing. It worked for us. And we finally got some use out of the ironing board! :lmao:

thank you so much for the information and the photo. I agree, I don't think a pressure gate would work, at least now that saves me some space in the car!

The ironing board idea is a good one, I'm going to try that, or maybe I could just set up the pack n play and use it to block the stairs. Since he won't sleep in it, at least it will go to some use!

He's getting better at looking before he runs, but he's not there yet. I think just something to slow him down a little would help, even if it just gave me the time to grab him before he toppled down the staircase. He's one fast little dude! :)
