SSR Dec UY / Booking at other DVC resorts

We are new SSR owners with a Dec UY. Can anyone explain with this UY month, how the new banking and borrowing rules apply? Also, has anyone had much success getting into other DVC resorts via the 7 month booking window? I know BWV and BCV are very hard to get into, what about OKW and Wilderness Lodge?

You'd have to double check the exact months, but I believe that you have until May31 to bank as many as 100% of a given year's points and August 31 to bank as many as 50%.

We have never had any trouble booking at the 7 mos mark at any of the resorts. A few times we didnt get into our first choice, but that was on very short notice.

Under the current banking rules, you can bank up to 100% of your points during the first 6 months of your Use Year (Dec 1 - May 31), up to 50% of your points during months 7-9 (Jun 1 - Aug 31), and up to 25% of your points during the 10th month of your Use Year (Sep 1 - 30). You cannot bank anything during the last 2 months of your Use Year.

Under the new banking rules, you can bank up to 100% of your points during the first 8 months of your Use Year (Dec 1 - Jul 31) and nothing after that point. I'm not sure when this change to the banking rules takes effect.

You also asked about changes to the borrowing rules but I haven't heard about any changes there. I believe you can still borrow up to one year's worth of points.

It's going to depend on when you plan to vacation. At certain times of year, WL will be quite difficult to get at 7 months, as it has a very small number of villas compared to OKW or SSR.

OKW and SSR are the easiest to get at 7 months. The only time you might have a bit of difficulty with OKW is booking for December vacations, as that's a super-popular time for DVC members. But, if you call right at the 7 month mark, you should be OK.

The smaller resorts (BCV, BWV, WL) will be tough to get at 7 months if you're trying to reserve for December, the Food and Wine Festival, and major holidays. Outside of those times, you'll probably be fine.

Those that plan ahead, book day by day and use the wait list appropriately will be able to do well for most things. Likely the only things that will be totally out of reach for your situations will be certain unit types at higher demand times of year. Things LIKE a 2 queen two BR at BCV, GV or standard/BW view units at BWV. concierge at AKV or GV at HH will likely be impossible during the higher demand times for that given resort. The people that will be unhappy are those that do the opposite. Try to book routinely on short notice, want something consistently that falls into one of the high demand options and/or isn't willing to put the effort in to learn the system and call day by day.
