SSR Building to request to be close to High Rock Spring Pool?

This is the first time I will be staying at SSR and I'm a little nervous because of all the negative (or mostly not great) reviews. Unfortunately, SSR is the only resort still available for the end of June. My dates are June 27 to July 1 and I'll have 3 17-year-old boys with me. They love the pools and especially the slides! I assume that the High Rock Spring Pool will be the best for them but if you have any other recommendations, please let me know! Which building or area in SSR should I request to be close to the High Rock Spring Pool? Also, when will the new pool in SSR be open and will that pool have a slide? Thank you in advance for any help or recommendations you can give me!

Ah, the SSR-what-building-to-stay-at-post-of-the-week... This thread is not comprehensive , but it's a pretty good start... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2653534&highlight=ssr+building You probably could use more discussion of the pros-and-cons of the Springs section, but there is one mention of bus issues at the Springs section.

You might catch the soft-open of the Paddock pool, which is scheduled to open in July. I've also read some info that High Rock Springs may be closing for refurb when the new Paddock pool opens, so be prepared.

As for the "I've-never-stayed-at-SSR-but-I've-heard-such-terrible-things", there's a couple of threads that go back and forth. Suffice it to say that many of us SSR fans are happiest staying there.:cloud9: Rather than reading the SSR Lovers and Owners thread, maybe you could just read "Green Eggs and Ham" and decide if SSR is a good fit for your Disney stays after your "unfortunate" stay.;)

trip.

We liked that area near the pool and dining and we just requested Springs and were right across the street - it was perfect for us. In fact, I hope we get it again next week when we go.

If they are 17 years old, they can easily walk to the pool from any section (and they aren't going to be too impressed with that slide). You are talking, perhaps, a 5 minute difference from Springs and any other section (we've stayed in 4 of the 5 sections).

The Springs bus stop does get congested. It is the last stop on the loop and it's also the transfer point for those guests dropping off from the Treehouse Villas. That's really the only negative comment I have regarding Springs.
