A good friend of mine may have to cancel his SSR ressie for next week for a 2 bdrm villa due to a family medical emergency. The points will become subject to the 60 day rule and his UY is Feb. He would like to use the points this coming Xmas but realizes that getting an Xmas ressie under the 60 day rule will be next to impossible.
My first question is what is the possibility of getting a 2bdrm ressie at SSR for Xmas week if he cannot book until late October ?? How about the week b/4 Xmas - 12/13-12/23 ??
If the answer is what I expect, then what would happen if I went and booked an Xmas ressie at SSR under my name at the 7 month(I'm VWL) window and then changed the ressie to his name later this fall ? COuld he then use his points for the ressie ? What would then happen to my points ? He is a good friend, but I don't want to mess up my points.
FYI - I believe he is using banked 2005 points along with 2006 points for his current ressie. I would have to use my banked 2005 points (Oct UY) along with 2006 points and possibly borrow from my 2007 allocation.

I'm not a point expert so I'll let the experts weigh in with all the scenarios. Getting the 2 bedroom at SSR for that week is doubtful. It is a huge resort but that is a busy time. The X factor could be this: they are still building as we speak. Those rooms might get released into DVC inventory right before the 60 day mark. I'm not sure how that works? :confused3 Resorts do things differently, maybe those rooms are already in the DVC inventory knowing they will be ready by then. My guess is that they wouldn't put rooms into the inventory until they are ready in case of any hold ups or glitches. Hopefully others can be of more help. My opinion with the point situation is that I wouldn't do all the borrowing just to help a friend out. It could hurt your flexibility to book resorts. Good luck with this.
