Day 13 – Saturday 24th December

Well the noisy people were off again at 6:30am this morning; they actually woke us up shouting and slamming doors!
It really doesn’t feel like Christmas Eve, if I were at home I’d be running round like a headless chicken getting everything ready for tomorrow! This is a much better way to spend it. The only thing missing is DD1 and the dogs!
DD1 we will get to see later on as the reason that we brought the laptop with us is that we could use the webcam on msn and talk to her!

I forgot to say the other day when we checked in, the resort timeshare people rang and DH got the phone, what can I say we are doing a timeshare presentation this morning at 10:30am!
I told the guy at check-in that I was not interested in buying any timeshare, but even he said just go and get the $150!!! It’s supposed to last 1 hour 30 min.

Today’s forecast is supposed to be warm.

Well the presentation did last 1.5 hours. We didn’t sign on the line; he was all nice until we said that we weren’t interested he changed.
We left at 12:35 and thought that we would go to Universal to watch the Macy’s parade. When we got to US the queues for parking were huge, we decided to give it a miss, so straight back round and to the exit. We then headed off to find something to eat. Steak ‘n’ Shake was where we decided to try. Or so we thought, DD didn’t like the look of anything on the menu so off we went. We ended up back at the resort and have sandwiches and crisps.

After our fill we had a little look on TV, DH had a nap as he had such a rotten nights sleep. I had a little walk round the resort, taking some photos.

DH woke up and we decided to go for another game of mini golf. Pirates Cove, LBV was the closest. We chose to play the easy side; I would’ve hated to see the hard side.

My score was really bad; I drew with DD for 2nd place. DH of course was 1st.

Out of there and we were thinking of places to eat. We started out for Tony Roma’s but somehow ended up at Charley’s steakhouse. It was supposed to open at 5pm, there was an elderly American couple waiting. 5pm on the dot they wanted in! They had reservations for 5pm and expected to be seated at 5pm. They knocked on the door and a waitress came to the door saying that they would open at 5 as they were in a meeting, to which they kindly pointed out that it was and that she should get a watch, they were so funny. Eventually they let us in.
We skipped the appetisers as we always fill up when we eat these, so we just went straight in for the kill, I mean main course. DD doesn’t do steak or seafood, so a plain grilled chicken breast was ordered for her. We went for the New York strip 18oz with sautéed mushrooms and potato au gratin, with fries.
We got a salad to start with, which was ok, we left most of it and DD never touched hers.
A while later our main course came out. I never took any photos of the steak. DH thought the rib eye that he had at pepper market tasted better, I enjoyed mine. It made a change from burgers etc.
We noticed that others were getting the different cuts of meat brought to the table and talked through the different cuts, we were not given this, a bit disappointed, but our server was good none the less, bill came to $81 without tip. I am pleased that we have tried it but won’t be eating there again.
We were really stuffed.

We needed to stop off at Walgreens as I needed to get something to put DD’s surprise Christmas box in. It was jumping in there, everybody getting last minute gifts.
We were done in no time, when she asked me who the bag was for I just said it was for her sister!

Back to the resort once again as we thought we’d have a nice relaxing evening watching all the Christmas TV! How wrong we were. Our friendly noisy neighbours had other ideas we stood it for as long as we could but couldn’t do it anymore, they must’ve been watching a film but they had it so loud that we couldn’t hear our TV. After the night we had with them we’d had enough. We rang front desk, who in turn sent security over. Security then arrived and listened to the racket, we explained that we knew it was Christmas and we didn’t want to cause any trouble, but we had to put up with it all night last night. He stood there and the noise was really bad. We felt awful, but it’s our vacation too and why should we put up with it. So he went and had a word with them. Oh the difference, it was lovely and quiet! Perfect.

We actually got to watch TV and relax.

DD sent us a text message at 7pm FL time 12 midnight UK time to wish us a Merry Christmas. She was in bed, bless her.
It still doesn’t feel like Christmas, it really is a lovely way to spend it.

I agree Michelle, it's the best place to be at Christmas (I'll just have to make do with New Year this year), glad you got the neighbours sorted out :)
