Spring Hill Suites vs Fairfield Inn

Narrowed down our hotels to these two - will be using hotel points. We only have one park day so one walk in the morning, one walk back at night. Kids are 9 and 7 and the 7 year old most likely will have a stroller. Spring Hill most likely will provide more space for us than Fairfield so we are leaning towards that one. Any huge reason we should pick Fairfield Inn? Pool won't matter. THANKS!

@JJ2017 there are two SpringHill Suites very close to Disneyland. The SpringHill Suites Anaheim Resort Area/Convention Center is a straight walk up Harbor to Disney, the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Anaheim Maingate is probably best used via the ART shuttle or Uber/Lyft as there isn't a very direct path. We had the Maingate booked but just before our trip I got a better deal staying at the Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort, which is pretty much next to the SpringHill Suites Convention Center.

My oldest son and his fiancee stayed at the Fairfield and thought it was nice. I'd say the biggest plus is that is is much closer, so it's a very easy walk.

We have a super early departure our second morning. 7 am flight out of john Wayne. Is one hotel “easier” to get an uber to the airport?

No advantage to either for departure.

I have stayed at both and my go to between the two is FFI just for the proximity to the parks

Did 4 park days back to back with my 4yr old at FFI. no stroller. Walk is easy, if that helps. We had a room by the pool which I loved as it avoided the elevators and saved a few steps ;)

Yup same here. I was solo with four kids (ages 3-11) in August at FFI. Easy walk to the parks. We were originally placed on the fifth floor but it was a LONG walk so we switched to the first floor (107) which was perfect. Close enough to the pool, so easy to get to our room and no need to wait for the elevator.

Springhill - 12 min walk, breakfast, more space. FFI - 5 min walk, no breakfast, although recently renovated still has “motel feel.” Not like typical Fairfields. If price was the same I might do springhill. If choice was courtyard vs springhill then it’s CY all the way.

We are going to go with Spring Hill. Just like the idea of more space. Hopefully we can put in for a Suite Night Award and get upgraded to the bunk bed room. Kids would love that!

@JJ2017 have fun! Let me know if you get the upgrade, from other Bonvoy groups I'm part of seems they are being VERY stingy about giving them out, so much even the high level members are getting pretty ticked off. You may run into some homeless/drug users/beggers outside of CVS and 7-11, just keep your eyes open and you'll be fine.

I have received one upgrade from Bonvoy while at Disney. I get upgraded everywhere else I stay but only once at Disney. It was the Courtyard Theme Park Entrance and it was great!

For some reason we have never put in for the upgrade before until this past weekend on a trip to DC. Yes, the entire city was dead but we got the upgrade at a Marriott and it was soooooooo nice. So maybe our luck is starting!

For FFI, Is there any way to request the rooms with sleeper chairs? If we book with points my only option is the two queens.

i would book and then contact them to see if they can make the switch. I have done that with points when they only offer one bed and a sofa-bed (will not work for my 6ft3 son) but I vote for Springhill :)

I think every room at FFI has a sleeper chair. But be aware it's a small sleeper. My 7 year old slept on it fine but I don't think an adult would fit comfortably. It's shorter and narrower than a twin size bed.

-FFI is an upgraded motel; but still a motel - McD's is the goto breakfast on the way to Disney in am ---typically 35k
-Courtyard is next door with most better facilities as a hotel. But usually 40k to 50k per night
-Same walking: ~5minutes

Next grouping for Marriott:
Springhill Suites is corner of convention center block Harbor ~35k
Residence Inn: ~40-50k
Sheraton Park - ~35k - same distance as RI. No breakfast unless you go club level upgrade (worth it).

Soon:
Westin - walkable through VGC
JR Marriott - shuttle
Element - walkable but maybe sketchy down Disney Way looks about same as RI distance.

Our strategy:
Certificates:
FFI for power stays
or Springhill when we want sleep in and breakfast.

Points:
RI or Courtyard for the same reasons.

Thanks for all the info! I’m combining a certificate with points and pulled the trigger on springhill. Maybe a longer walk but we will take that for the little bit of extra space. I’m interested in the Westin. When will that one open?
