We will be traveling during spring break Mar 17-25 this year (ugh college student), staying offsite.... We do RD, any touring advice thinking 2 day/1day free park to park tickets. Any help appreciated!!!

What is RD?

We are planning on going in that same time frame(22-26). We don't have any real worries since we will be staying onsite (RPH) and will be putting the unlimited express pass to good use.

You mention you are staying offsite, but I would highly recommend staying onsite to take advantage of the early hour to see all things Potter, then express pass the rest! If staying onsite at one of the three resorts is not a possibility, then a partner hotel would at least grant you early entry. You might also consider adding express pass (not unlimited, only once per ride) at least one of the days. With this being a very busy time, you may need all three days to cover everything the parks offer.

We will be there the week after you. We are also staying offsite and staying onsite isn't an option. I've heard that Spring Break is busy, but someone else said it wasn't as bad as people think since Spring Breaks for different schools fall during different weeks. Hoping the crowds won't be to unmanageable! :)

Yes you are nuts. Rope Drop is a must (be there 30 minutes early of opening times).

Head for Harry Potter or use your hopper tickets on an early morning to hit Mummy then get over to Harry Potter and Spider Man.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.Spring break times are often staggered thru MArch and April.Last year certain weeks werent so bad, others were insane.BE at the park gates well before opening and ready to go.You can get a bit done in the first hour or so.If Ollivanders wand show appeals to you, DO IT FIRST.The waits only get longer and the line is out in the open and in the sun.Forbidden Journey might have a wait, but it is thru the castle and interesting at least.

I don't really think it'll be that bad. With Easter being in April this year, I feel more breaks will be then.

Thanks all, yes RD is rope drop. Staying onsight is not an option for us. We have been many times but usually in May. We are doing 1 day at MK and have the other days open for US/IOA Looking at crowd calendars it is showing 6-7 for the week except for the Mardi Gras parade/concert day on the 22 (which I'm not sure my little ones are ready for). I guess I will try and go with a touring plan and just hope for the best!!

We are going the same week and I am fairly confident it will busy, but not slammed. Go on the Universal website and look at the cost of Unlimited Express as a good predictor. The week before it is peak price but it is regular price during the week of the 16th.

We were at Universal during Spring Break in 2012. It was not bad at all. Nothing like the lines/crowds at Disney. But, we stayed in a Universal hotel, which made all the difference in the world. Doing so gives you front of the line privileges at every ride except HP and I think Rip Ride Rocket. And you can use it without limit in each park every day! We rarely waited more than 5 minutes to get on anything, except one time on Spiderman we waited 15 minutes. I MUCH prefer Universal's front of the line system to Disney's Fast Pass, particularly now that Disney has put SO many limitations on its new FP+ system.
If you are staying off-site, you will be stuck in the regular lines which did get quite long after mid-morning.
My advice is to spring for the cost of one of the four Universal hotels. It will be well worth it in terms of your park experience. And actually, the cost of the UA hotels (even their top one Portofino) is less than the cost of the Disney deluxe resorts during the week of April 12, which is the week before Easter.

Spring Break so varied, this year, that it shouldn't be bad. I'd be more concerned if you were going during Easter Week.

. We are doing the same and staying offsite as well. We are going April 7-10. We would love tips too. :)

Yes, I know we are nuts, but we will be there from April 17-21...Good Friday and Easter weekend...but DH and I are both teachers, and we head to the Disney Magic on April 21, so we are going to brave the crowds! We have been at Disney during the same time period, as well as President's Day week, and survived. Even managed to have lots of fun too! ;) Can't choose our vacation times, so we make the best of it. We are staying onsite, and will be using Unlimited Express to the max! :goodvibes

Yep, you are nuts. I personally will never visit Disney or Universal during SB ever again. Been there done that. I also will never go to Universal without express pass. We just got back. The crowds were mild and some rides had a 45 min wait and with Exp Pass we walked right on. Pay for express pass or stay onsite 1 night to get it for 2 days. Your time will be MUCH more enjoyable.
