Spring Break or right after school ends?

Hey everyone,

We are WDW vets, looking to take our first trip to Disneyland next year. There will be 4 of us: me, my wife, and 2 daughters (7 and 5). Because of my school schedule, it looks like we can either go during my spring break (March 11-15), or we can leave the day school is done for me (June 3-8).

Ideally, as it's our first trip, I think that I would like to avoid the crowds that are coming with Galaxy's Edge, and I realize there's been no news of when it will open.

So of those two dates above, which one would be the better option and why or why not?

Thanks for the advice!

Easter is pretty late next year (April 21st), so your Spring Break is early. Peak Spring Break around here tends to be the two weeks before and two weeks after Easter; but with the actual holiday being so late next year, many schools may just plan their break without including the holiday itself. So, if you choose your March dates, you might miss peak Spring Break crowds because your dates are a bit early. For a first trip, if you can plan for a 5 day visit (get park hoppers -- hopping is so easy at DLR), that would let you get a lot done no matter how limited the park schedule might be. And you would still have time for lounging by the pool, shopping, character meals, shows, some beach time, etc. Early June can be good, too, but the planning will be different. You'll be dealing with Grad Nites, some school districts will be out already, and there will be a greater risk of SWGE opening or being in previews. No matter which dates you choose, check the AP Blockout calendars -- that is key to planning at DLR. You want to try to avoid dates before the lower passes are blocked out or the dates when they are allowed back in after a block. Any dates when the lower passes are blocked can be good, even weekends. Once you've decided on your dates, come back here to start your trip planning.

...so you would have to watch the refurb schedule for March and see what is closed during your visit.....for your June visit everything should be up and running in relationship to SWGE overflow needs. As for the weather, I guess you wouldn't be needing the California March sunshine.
