We leave for disney in 15 days and today I fell going up the stairs and I chipped a peice of bone off of my foot. Our stairs twist about half way up and there is a triangular step in the middle....well I missed it and my ankel gave out....and here I sit.

I have one of those sexy blue medical boots on my foot and I'm able to walk...its a little bothersome, but I think I'll be able to make it. I'm not going to let this stop my disney trip......

Anyone else have a similar injury? How long did it take to heal?

I'm soooo sorry. I would suggest renting an ECV. Just the walk from the room to the bus and the bus to the park could be more then you can handle

I went to disney a couple years ago with a fractured foot, it took 6 weeks to heal for me. But i had a big black medical boot and was able to ride ToT and RnR and all the rides except the water ones . Just rest alot. I hope it get better soon.

Awwww poor thing. Good for you for not letting it spoil your trip! Just don't be a hero.... rent a wheelchair. :thumbsup2

The Dr. said its possible it could heal enough in the 14 days I have left before I leave. Luckily I didn't hurt my ankel. Its the part of the foot right under the pinky toe. All I could think about when I was laying on the steps in pain was NOOOO, this can't be happening...I'm going to disney world!!

i fractured the bone on the top of my foot. i was on crutches for about a week, it was still sore a week later but i was able to put some pressure on it. by the 3rd week i was like new. youll be fine by then-just take it easy.

Boy that stinks! I second the ECV. No need to cause further damage. Disney is so much walking! Have a delightful time regardless!

I feel for you! Oct 8th I fell off a curb leaving Applebee's restaurant while I was carring my 16mo old ds! I did all I could to not let him fall to the pavement and I sure messed up my foot and hip but he somehow landed safely in the grass, face down but no injury to him. I sprained my right foot and it is still not 100%. Certain ways I turn my foot I feel a little tweak or pull so I am still being careful when doing cerain things like walking the dog. I can run though so I know it's a lot better than it was. Is it swollen after walking? Just make sure you don't over do it, although I know that will be impossible! Maybe elevate it each night too. Have a great trip.

I'd suggest you check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is a list of places off-site where you can rent ECVs and wheelchairs (along with information on wheelchairs and ECVs in the parks). Even if you think you will be well enough to not need one, it would be a good idea to take the phone numbers along. That way, you'll have it if you need it.

I'm so sorry! :grouphug:

I just fractured my right foot in early October, but I am doing much better now. Would you believe that my foot fell asleep, and when I stood up, I managed to break it?! I was holding my then 15 month old dd at the time, and all of my energy was focussed on not dropping her! I think it hurt much worse than I realized, as I had an adrenaline rush not to drop my dd.

I got a walking cast/ski boot, and was able to move about fairly well within a few days. Of course, it was my right foot, so I couldn't drive for about 6 weeks.

Take it easy, rest up, and see if you can rent a wheelchair while there so you don't overdo it. Hope you are able to have a fun trip! :thumbsup2

This happened to my mom. She just wore her boot thing. Her foot didn't bother her at all, but the boot started to hurt her leg, so she used 2 pairs of high socks on the foot and it seemed to work. I think you'll be fine...have fun!

Thanks everyone, the pain subsided and now its only a minor discomfort when I walk. I'm a pretty confident that between now and the time I leave I will recover enough to walk in my tennis shoes and be completely fine. It really only bothers me when I put pressure on the ball of my foot.

Thanks for all of your feedback and advice, you are all very nice.

Best wishes for your trip. I'm here in Orlando now, and my feet are really tired/sore after spending the last several days in the parks.

I wouldn't think twice about getting a wheelchair or an ECV. People are using them all over the parks (in fact, I don't ever remember seeing so many).

Good luck!
