Sprained Ankle and we leave this weekend

My dd8 sprained her ankle last night. We leave for Disney this weekend. I took her to the urgent care this morning and they thought she would heal quickly given her age. Hopefully better by the weekend but realistically 2 weeks to completely heal. She has an air cast to support the ankle while she walks. We'll take it easy.

Any suggestions, tips for anyone who has been there, done that?

Way too much walking for an air cast. Get an ankle brace. Of course, talk to you doctor about this specific circumstance. Our doctor was adamant that an air cast would cause the ankle to heal incorrectly with the amount of walking we'd be doing at Disney.

Ice it at the end of the day. I used to sprain ankles all the time playing basketball as a teenager and they never lasted more than 3-4 days. Maybe get her an ankle brace to keep from re-injuring during the trip. There's not much she can do to make it worse so I would not worry too much. See how it goes and if it hurts get a wheel chair.

Get her a T-shirt with an image of the "ankle bone" from the Operation game, and the phrase, "I've got a wrenched ankle!"

Get her ankle up as much as possible to help with swelling and bring pain reliever as I imagine it will ache at the end of the day. Compressive ankle wrap may help with pain and swelling also. If she feels too much pain a wheelchair may be necessary. Advice coming from someone who has nursed 20+ ankle sprains

I was going to suggest a stroller. I would keep her off of it as much as possible

Sorry your daughter was hurt and I hope she gets well soon. When I fractured my ankle three weeks before a WDW trip I actually rented a scooter. It turned out to be a lifesaver and the company delivered it right to My resort! Good luck!
