Whew, finally a minute to sit down and do some quick reviews of our trip! My daughter and I enoyed free dining from 9/15/-9/21. Hubby flew in on 9/18 and joined us. Yes, we paid for him to be on the reservation for the whole week but unfortunately he could not get the whole week off.
Saturday 9/15
Drove straight to EoS. Did not pass go, did not collect $200. We LOVE this place. We paid OOP for a Caprese sandwich, chips and a soda which we shared. It was as delicious as always and put us in "vacation eating mode"!
After checking in at POFQ(LOVE!!!!),we headed to MK. We had a reservation at LTT for a late lunch. We shared the Colony Salad which was delicious! We subbed buttermilk ranch for the shallot dressing. YUMMY! We also shared the OOEY GOOEY TOFFEE CAKE. It was a religious experience, we were rendered speechless. Great start to our week!
Later that night we shared a cheesesteak sandwich and fries from the food court at POFQ. Nothing amazing but it was hot, cooked to order and quite tasty. We also had drinks out by the pool bar....a mojito for me and a fruity "mocktail" for my daughter. Win, win!!!
Sunday 9/16
We had an 8:05 reservation at CRT. This is a tradition for us ever since my daughter was tiny(she is now 16). We checked in and were given a prime table for 2 right in front of the window overlooking Fantasyland. Score!! Second year in a row we have gotten that table!! We both had the steak and eggs and while not drop dead delicious, it was good. The potatoes were really yummy and the tray of breads and pastries were very tasty too. They brought my daughter a birthday cupcake but the big surprise was that my daughter had a chocolate slipper dessert delivered to the table for me!! It made me cry! Well, actually it made half the restaurant cry. It was a magical moment in my life seriously!! We left right at 9 am and hit up every ride we wanted with no lines. It was a dream!
For lunch we hopped over to Epcot and shared a lamb platter at Tangerine Cafe'. It was yummy. We skipped their baklava and had ice cream later instead. I also "may" have had an avocado margarita in Mexico. OMG, soooo good!
Monday 9/17
Breeakfast was QS at POFQ. I got the yogurt parfait they make fresh for you with yogurt, strawberies, raspberries, and granola. It was delicious!! I eat greek yogurt every day at home and this made me feel like at least I had one meal that was not terrible for me. Not that I worry about that too much on vacation but it was still a nice option. My daughter had biscuits and gravy which are a great use of a snack credit. I helped her finish them.
Lunch was Pizza Planet at HS. We actually love this place. We shared a cheese pizza with the little salad and a cappuccino cupcake. Let me just say this is the only cupcake that I had all week that had the texture of a cupcake and not a muffin. Delicious!!
Dinner was 50's Prime Time. So fun! I paid OOP for a wedge salad and then we shared the fried chicken with all white meat, potatoes, and corn. All was hot and good! For dessert we had the brownie sundae and it was deuling spoons!!! It was so good!!!! Uncle Dale was our server and he was a hoot. We had a great time.
Tuesday 9/18
We had an 8:05 ADR for Crystal Palace. This is one of our fave meals of the trip. Our favorites on the buffet were the Mickey waffles, chocolate croissants, Pooh's bread pudding(um, YUM!), fruit, fruit, and more fruit. The egg casserole with veggies and cheesy potatoes were also tasty. We left with full bellies ready for the day.
Lunch was Contempo Cafe'. We shared the stacked sandwich and homemade chips. This was delicious and HUGE!! It was more than enough for two people. Dessert was the Mickey red velvet cupcake. It was very good but very sweet and heavy. We could not finish it between the two of us.
The hubby flew in mid afternoon and while our daughter went to the Halloween party with friends, we went to the California Grill for our anniversary meal. This was the best meal EVER! I had the scallops and my husband had the filet. Both were to die for good! For dessert we shared bananas and caramel and the berry cobbler. Beyond delicious. They gave us complimentary champagne for our anniversary and confetti on the table. Service was impeccable. Highly recommend.
Wednesday 9/19
Breakfast in food court at POFQ. Yogurt parfait again for me, Mickey waffle for hubby and mini waffles for my daughter. All was good, hot, and fresh!
Lunch was EoS again!! This time I had the roast beef sandwich with no horseradish, daughter stuck with the caprese and hubby had the original 1872?? Anyway, it was all perfect. We also shared cole slaw which I loved b/c it was sweet. We also had a brownie which is my favorite dessert here.
Dinner was the Cape May seafood buffet. It was really good! The crab legs were hot, fresh, and meaty. I also loved the salads and fruit options. The mac and cheese off the kiddie buffet here is realllly tasty. The desserts were kind of blah and we missed the Oreo bon bons though.
Thursday 9/20
Breakfast in food court, ditto of yesterday!
Lunch at Yak and Yeti. We love this joint and have always had good meals and great service. I paid OOP for fried green beans. YUM!!!!!!! Then I picked off everyone else's plates.
Hubby had the mixed lo mein which he loved and my daughter had the steak and shrimp which was delicious. Dessert was won tons and mango pie. Don't know which I loved more!!!
Dinner was an ice cream sundae from the Plaza at MK while waiting for the Main Street Electrical Parade. It was unbelievably good. Espresso chip ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream in a waffle bowl. Daughter had the same and loved hers just as much!!
Friday 9/21
Breakfast at Chefy Mickeys. Everything was good and this is a fun place. We always go early so it is not too crowded and annoying when we are there but I can see how it could be later on. We enjoyed everything we had but their cheesy potatoes are da bomb!!!!
Lunch at Contempo Cafe again. Stacked sandwiches all around! We had two cupcakes, one peanut butter which was great and some kind of cinnamon apple one which was just okay.
For our final meal we went to Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner. We were starving when we got there and then waited like 40 minutes past our ADR. Blah. Service was spotty and SLOW!! The food was delicious. The onion rolls were really good and the filet was DELICIOUS. It was in my top 5 steaks of all time. Hubby had the strip but I did not get a taste. Dessert was the peanut butter chocolate cake thing with pretzels and it was really good. I guess the atmposphere and the service just did not "wow" me here.
All in all a GREAT TRIP. We can't wait to go back next year. Sorry for the lack of pictures but this year I decided to be just "be" more in the moment and not try to document everything I ate.
