:confused3 Celebrating my 50th and wondering why no one chooses All Star Sports? I have 2 grandsons and we ourselves have only stayed at moderate or deluxe. Any information, pros, cons etc. would be awesome...

I'm wondering about crowds as well? Will we fight for chairs around the pool? Room cleanliness, food courts etc.

Depending on the time of year, All-Star Sports hosts groups of athletes and cheerleaders, which is a deterrent for some. But the other All-Stars and even some of the Moderates also have these groups.

I think the biggest reason that All-Star Sports doesn't get a lot of love is that it's less likely to appeal to guests who are not big sports fans. I'm not talking about disliking sports, but just not having a big interest in it. For guests who are not gung-ho sports fans, All-Star Movies and All-Star Music have a more universal (no pun intended) theme.

Since you've only stayed at Mod and Deluxe, maybe your question is more about the value resorts in general. I've stayed at all levels and liked each resort. But there are some factors (besides the potential for large groups) to consider... primarily that the rooms are smaller, the beds are smaller (in most cases), and the resort has fewer amenities... food court only vs. table service restaurants, etc.

On the PRO side, the All-Stars, POP, and AoA are very appealing to kids because of the larger than life decorations and lots of Disney, cartoon-style theming. I absolutely love the serene mood of a resort like POR mansions, but for a lot of kids, give 'em a three story Buzz Lightyear anyday!

It's Disney. No matter which one you stay at it'll be great! We are staying at All Star Music in August.

Congratulations!! :cool1:

My order of Value Resorts is:

Pop
Movies
Sports
Music

I happen to like ASSp because I like sports so the theme is OK with me. BUT, I would choose another Value resort over it because the Food Court will soon be under renovation and you will have to go to Music or Movies to eat.

If the grandkids are really into Disney characters, you might consider that All-Star Movies features buildings that are themed as Toy Story, 101 Dalmations, Fantasia, Herbie, and Mighty Ducks.

Art of Animation buildings are themed as Little Mermaid, Lion King, Cars, and Finding Nemo.

When we stay at the value resorts we always stay at the sports. We liked that they were always the first stop for the buses, that was a big plus for us. For example we stayed there in September 2010 and the bus would stop at the sports and then go to the music. Not sure if it still works like that but I would check it out. My kids also liked the stsues of the Disney characters playing sports in the courtyards.

:wave2: Thank you. Your right! I remember those teenager groups. It was rough getting quite time by the pool or our little one on the water slide at the moderate. I usually go aroundd Canadian March Break and there were always cheerleaders around this time so I think this may bear some thought. Value vs. peace of mind and no slide hoarders :crazy2:

But in the end $$$ may be the issue. I really want the convenience of staying onsite too. Hmmmmmm thanks for the thoughts/opinions all. Very appreciated :wave2:

Does anyone know when ASSp's food court renovations are set to begin and end? :confused3

The End Zone Food Court at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort will be closed for refurbishment from August 5 until December 20, 2013. During this time, made-to-order food will not be available. Grab-and-go food items (cold sandwiches, cereal, etc.) will be available in a temporary location -- the Game Point Arcade. (Arcade games will not be available during this refurbishment.) Motor coach transportation to the other All-Star Resorts will be available throughout the day during this period, and two motor coaches will run during mealtimes. You will be able to board motor coaches from the porte-cochere outside the All-Star Sports lobby. Coaches will travel to the porte-cocheres at both All-Star Music and All-Star Movies. This transportation will also be available if you'd like to enjoy the Note'able Games and Reel Fun arcades at the other All-Star resorts.
