This looks kinda cool! Wish it was going on when we were going to be there!

Hoping this is an after hours event since I can see this being scary to the little ones.

I don't think it's Disney sponsored. If they are spending the day at Magic Kingdom, I doubt they bought out the park!

Very poor choice of photos by the website. Those are from an event hosted by Spooky Empire five years ago that had nothing to do with Disney. They will not go to WDW in full zombie makeup with blood.

You're looking more at something like this: http://www.batsday.net/photos/past.html#2013

Think less zombie/blood makeup and more dapper day done haunted mansion style. Though you'll also see a lot of casual goth style too. It's also not an official Disney sponsored event so there will be no after hours option for them.

**************.net reported that Spooky Empire Inc. is hosting some type of event in the parks on September 22-23. Does anyone where these events are held or how it will impact the crowds? Does Disney allow costumes and make-up like this in the parks?

From what I was able to gather, while this event will be taking place on WDW property, it isn't a WDW sponsored event. In a nutshell, it's an event where individuals are able to showcase their villainous side and is geared towards horror fans. The central event location will be in the convention center at CSR with gatherings at both MK and a special event at Tower of Terror. I would imagine that they would need to rent the park out for certain hours and therefore costumes will be allowed. There will also be merchandise for sale.

Do you think an event like this will impact the crowd level? This does look a little to scary for little ones

Ugh. Of course we're doing the 9/22 party. I hope this doesn't make it a madhouse.

If, and that's a big if, the participants are allowed to be in the park during regular hours, they would be subject to the park costume policies. And those are pretty strict for adults! So, I'm going to assume that this won't be happening during regular park hours. Perhaps they are paying for an after hours party, that is open to those paying for it. I imagine that the costumes would be pretty good, which Disney won't allow on adults. No capes, no weapons, etc. Just can't imagine Disney would allow that type outfit during regular park hours.

I just hope that doesn't mean they're taking over MNSSHP on the 22nd

Every party is a madhouse. At least for me knocking down kids to get signatures and candy. :teeth:
Race ya!

I know things can get crazy, but I feel like an organized mass of party-goers that are part of a larger group might make for some expectations of entitlement.

Plus the Jewish holiday is that Thursday and Friday sooo I am thinking we may have to change our week.

I've been searching for more info on this event, and stumbled here. It does look like Spooky Day updated their site a bit with some more info. Anyone know prices yet? They do stress that it is not a costume event.

Interesting! I like it! But unfortunately others are right that it would not fit Disney's "Not so Scary" image they do for children as well as adults. I'm happy this is a side event and people get to show off their creative side in a different way then you usually see at Disney parks!

ok they picked the wrong dates to do this.. I guess they aren't from florida or never been here in september.. It's too hot and humid for what they are looking for peopel to wear.. they are doing this very respectful and it looks like costuming is limited to things at the coronado convention space...

this is rules for the magic kingdom day:

"We expect to see you all in your very own dark, villainous, and macabre style. As costuming is not allowed within the parks, Disney Bounding is encouraged. You can find examples for this themed dressing on our Pinterest page and around the internet. Other dark styles, think gothic inspired, are encouraged as well as long as your look cannot be considered a "costume" and would not be confused with any of the park characters. If that's not your kind of style, we'd even love to see you in your Spooky Empire t-shirt! Just keep in mind, if a guest is dressed in a way that might be confused for a Disney park cast member or character, a Disney representative may ask that person to change all or part of the outfit before being allowed in the park. We will be working closely with Disney to ensure all guidelines are followed and our event runs smoothly."

other events on the calendar:
- a character breakfast with mickey and minnie in halloween attire at coronado.
- after hours tot event with villian characters (no masks or costumes is the rules on this one). (21+ as there is an open bar, ride will be running)
- their own spooky bizarre / exhibit stuff..
- mention of some photo opporunties in the MK day (none listed, says will be posted closer) so no clue if this is using private space with their own character meets arranged or not..

I have to be honest with you, I think I'm in for this one depending on what pricing might be when that comes out.. all they have now is coronado for $199 a night and convention priced ticket options for the parks.. I love halloween!
