Here is the scenario...

We are heading to WDW for one day - then a 4 day Disney cruise - then 4 days in WDW.

When I booked the trip, we had no intentions of going to the park on that first day, so I only bought tickets for the last 4 days. I called back to get the Spring discount and they said because I had bought 4 day tickets, I can get a 5th day free. I cannot tack on a day at the end of our trip. I asked if we could use that extra day on the first day of the trip. She couldn't split it up on her computer. She said that was something we would have to work out with the resort when we check in. So I won't know anything until we get there...
Which kinda stinks because we are not able to book FP's or ADR's because right now, we technically don't have a ticket for that day.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any luck on splitting up the package? Did you just suck it up and not have FP's or ADR's for that day?

Are the resorts willing to work out details like this? It's not like we are cheating on Disney...we are going on the cruise! lol!

TIA!!

You must get this worked out in advance.
Call again until you find someone who can help you.

What you want to do is attach your tickets to your FIRST resort stay.

(Or -unless the ticket deal is only based on a resort package- don't have the tickets connected to your resort stay at all...
just room-only reservations and tickets bought separately.)

Edit: It looks like you might not be able to change the second reservation AND get the same rates.
Sorry.

You should be able to book ADRs with out park tickets.

Yup. That's true.

But, it's the activation date of the multi-day tickets is are the big problem.

Right...If we are not going to be able to activate our tickets for the first day, I can't book ADR's. I need to activate the ticket for that first day to enter the park...

I would still book ADRs, you can always cancel it if you can't get the tickets worked out.

Well, you can book ADR's for the myriad of restaurants that are not located inside a theme park.

But, the crux of this is moving the tickets to the first resort stay, -OR- simply booking the tickets separately.

Unfortunately you will not be able to use the tickets on the one day before the cruise with your current package. Based on the info in your first post it looks like you booked the spring special and added 4 day tickets (which for the special gives you a 5th day free), but it makes it a package.

I haven't looked into the spring special, but it looks like it is up to 25% off the room rate and then you can upgrade to a package with the 5 days for the price of 4 tickets. If there are still rooms available for your nights you could see if you can book a room only at the discounted rate and buy tickets separately, but unfortunately it comes with a steep price since it looks like you are within 45 days of arrival. At this point cancelling a package would incur the $200 penalty.

The fine print in the package paperwork says tickets cannot be used until your check in date, but Ticketing/Guest Relations has been willing to activate them up to 3 days in advance. I have not read any posts where someone was able to get their package tickets any earlier so I wouldn't count on getting them 5 days in advance.

You could do things outside the parks instead: go miniature golfing, explore the resorts, check out DTD, take in a dinner show the day before the cruise.

You can make dining reservations for restaurants at the resorts for the day before your cruise.
