My DH, DS and I are going to be at Disney in a few weeks with my parents, my brother and his girlfriend and my in-laws. They all expect me to be the all knowing one about Disney (and it's mostly from reading these boards!). But, they threw a few at me that I couldn't answer. So, I thought I'd put them out here and I know someone can answer....

Question 1: When it comes to table service meals, my family, my parents and my in-laws are all on the dining plan. Since there are 7 of us, I know we will be automatically charged the 18% gratuity. However, my parents and in-laws want to pay their portion with cash, I want to pay our portion with my Disney Visa rewards points. How do we go about doing this? Will they give us separate bills with our 18% gratuity calculated for just our particular meals?

Question 2: If the answer to question 1 was that they will give us separate bills, this question has been answered. But, if not....For the 1 meal when my brother and his girlfriend will be eating with us, they are the only ones NOT on the DDP. How is this handled with the bill?

Question 3: I'm a little concerned about the automatic 18% gratuity because my in-laws generally do not feel as if they EVER need to leave more than 15% anywhere (don't even get me started on this one ). I can see this being an issue with them and my FIL has already expressed his "discomfort" with it a while back. Short of paying for their portion of the 18% tip (which we WILL do if they put up too much of a fuss since we're more on the 20% side of tipping if service is good), is there a way for us to pay what we feel is appropriate (i.e. 20%) and them pay what they think is, um, "appropriate" (i.e. 15%) without having to get out the calculators? This is the first time we've been with a large party. So, I wasn't sure if the tip amounts are listed on the bill showing how much 15%, 18% and 20% tip would be if it's already being automatically calculated at 18%. And, if it's broken up by family (just 3 meals for my family that I'll be paying for).

Anyway, I hope all of this makes sense and that someone can answer my questions so I can be "all knowing" again in their eyes. ;)

Yes, you can get separate bills. Just ask. You would automatically get a separate bill for those not on DDP. You can split the bills for the cash guests any way you like if you inform the server.

As for the tipping question, all tipping discussion is confined to the Tipping Information Thread on the main Restaurant board:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2300858

I'm going to close this thread because the first question is answered and the rest is about tipping. You can repost your tipping question on the above thread, or check the FAQ in the first post and see if it answers your question. If you decide to repost, please don't repost the information about your or your family's personal tipping habits - the first post of the tipping thread will help you with how to post there.
