Splitting a reservation

Can I get MS to split a reservation I currently have into 2 or more separate reservations? I have a reservation for 4 nights that I would like to switch at my 7 month (in 3 days) and I can see 2 of the 4 nights are available elsewhere - I would like to be able to change these nights myself at 8am and I would feel safer if I was only putting 2 nights in jeopardy while I make the switch. I don't have enough points to book both(without borrowing).

Any suggestions/opinions/ideas are welcome!

I don't think that they will split it but they will modify it dropping days in the front or back.

I have a number of times for other reasons though I know some have had issues lately. I'd call and ask if MS can do split it for you.

If you call MS they can check availability and hold without putting the nights you're dropping in jeopardy.

Splitting res is less of a hassle than it used to be. One advantage is with two separate reservations you have the option of only doing the ddp on one of them.

Unless this is a new software enhancement, not all agents can hold inventory. They may not tell you that they can't hold but we have been caught before and lost our inventory for Club Level at AKV.

Do you separately have points to make the new two day reservation? If so, you can do that online at 8 am. And then call later to drop two days from your first reservation. If you need to use points in the current reservation to make the change, then you cannot do it online at 8 a.m. because the online system does not allow any changes to an existing reservation, i.e., the only way to change what you have online is to cancel the entire reservation and start over. Thus, in that situation you need to call MS at 9 to make any changes.

Yes, literally a few days ago I had one reservation for OKW that was 9 days long, I had MS split it into 2 separate reservations one during marathon weekend and one the week afterwards. The next day at 8AM EST I went online cancelled the 2nd reservation and made a new reservation at BWV std view. I would not recommend doing this if there was a chance I couldn't have gotten OKW back, but the week after marathon weekend is pretty easy to get at 7 mnths, so I wasn't too worried. Now I have 4 nights at OKW and 5 nights at BWV std view studio.
