Looking to purchase a BLT add-on of 125 points today. Have until midnight to get back to my guide.

Looking for suggestions. Should we get one 125 contract add-on ? Or split it up ---and if so, how ?
100 + 25
80 + 45
70 + 55
etc ?

thanks
Maria

What I'd do:

25 + 25 + 25 + 25 + 25

Gives you greatest flexibility should you want/need to sell some points and retain some in the future....you can always sell more than one contract together with another as an option if someone wants 50-points, ya know?

50 + 50 + 25. The more contracts that you have, the greater the possibility of problems.

FYI, splitting of contracts isn't a automatic right. DVD is now requiring Management approval for all splits.

It amazes me how you get this info....just who do you know?:goodvibes

so the question is then........what would Mickey do in my situation ? ;):rotfl:

Hi Maria! Just my opinion, not worth anything, BUT......I don't think 125 pt. contract is big at all. Especially at BLT where more points are required per stay. You must think of the closing that the seller could end up paying plus the commission. So where the commission may be the same on two separate contracts, why pay more in closing?(This assumes the buyer does not pay closing.) Personally, I would just keep the contract at 125 pts. Splitting it up doesn't get the new purchaser much, unless they just want to by small to get in initially. That is a small purchase pool of those types of people..:wizard:

I totally hear what you're saying BWV Dreamin. We just closed on the sale of our OKW last week, so we put a bigger chunk of cash down on BLT 125 points today  . And we have 125 at AKV---so we now have 250 total which is all we can do right now (comfortably) with two kids in college. We ended up splitting contracts 75/50 with BLT. Honestly, hope to never have to sell it off.....but also thinking of our three kids. Eventually, down the line, will probably buy some more points. If the contracts are broken up, can split them up among kids easier too. And for an initial contract, no, 125 isn't alot. But it's an add-on for us. And I figure there are always Members out there looking for smallish add-ons on the the resale market from time to time. But like I said, hopefully it never comes down to us needing to sell it. So now we're happy Members at BLT. We figure we will probably do every other year at AKV/BLT with banking/borrowing.
Thanks for your input though....I do get what you're saying.

Splitting contracts during a purchase has never been offered by DVD before. The first reports of splitting was about a month ago. Obviously DVD is hungry to make sales and there is no way to tell if they will continue to allow splits.

We must be an exception then. :confused3 We split our initial purchase at SSR. 200 in our first contract and 50 in our second thinking that the 50 would be easier to sell if we ever needed to and that 200 would be the minimum we'd probably ever want. We began our purchase in Dec. '06 & closed in January '07 which was much longer than a month or so ago.

Oh, and CONGRATS Maria!!!! :thumbsup2 Saweeeet!!!

:confused3 I've been reading the recommendations to split for well over a year and did not think it was something new even at that time. I think you may be talking about new members where info has popped up that they are allowed to split and do not have to have part of the split be at least 160 pts - and they can even do it between two resorts to reach their minimum. Maria was doing an add on though.

Congratulations Maria! I also did 125 points and chose 75/50 - didn't know it was so popular! :goodvibes

The split that I am talking about is splitting the purchase for 2 different resorts. 160 points required, 80 points purchased AKV and 80 points at BLT. Allowing this type of split was first reported around 30 days ago.
