for those who have done two resorts during one stay did you find it too much to make the move? does disney help with the luggage or are you on your own? TIA

Split stays are a great way to take advantage of going up to deluxe for a few days and then do the rest mod/value.

Disney moves your luggage for you, but you will have some people who say they prefer having their luggage available to them right away or have had it take several hours for their luggage to be transferred if the resorts are very busy. In that case, you could take a cab if you prefer.

I would prefer to have them transfer my luggage while I am out at the parks.

I prefer split stays and find the advantages outweigh the inconvenience of the move. I've been doing it for several years; we even did a grand gathering split stay with a lot of people and it went smoothly.

Disney's bell services will move your luggage; you drop it off in the morning and you will get it in the afternoon. (It is customary to tip bell services on each end of this transfer). I prefer to move my own via taxi. I had one bad experience that ate up a lot of time trying to find a missing piece of luggage so for me, it's worth it to grab a cab and move it. I usually am the one to do the cabbing and then I meet everyone else at the park after I've moved and done check-in.

Completely agree with the PPs. I try to start my trip with the Value and then move up to the Deluxe. Last time my sister and I stayed one night at POP and then moved over to SSR. I have done the luggage thing both ways - 1) cab with it and 2) giving it to the bellhop at hotel #1 to transfer. I think it totally depends on your plans for that day and when you will need your luggage. Last time it didn't get to us until around 5pm but it wasn't a huge deal.
It's a great way to experience 2 resorts and Disney makes things easy as can be - of course ;)

We couldnt decide between two resorts so we did a split stay.

Glad we did, because we decided we are not a value family. We stayed at AoA and POR. mods/deluxes have towels and slides at the pool, better tasting food, etc.

Next time we'll split stay POR with Beach Club - cant wait!
