I'm considering booking a split stay for a trip in May but all of our trips after they started the new FP+ system have been at one resort. Will I be able to book for my entire stay on the window of the the first hotel night or will I only be able to book through checkout of that stay and then have to wait till the 60 day mark for the next reservation? We'll be using tickets we already have so how does that work with linking them to the magic bands?

If it's a giant pain or affects our FP+ then I may not do the split stay. My main reasoning is that we want to do 2 days at Universal but I can't do what we want to in those parks on my own with the kids and my husband will be joining us a few days into the trip. So my plan is to check into a WDW hotel the day we arrive (likely an MK or Epcot resort) do non-bus parks the first couple of days, then do Universal with my husband and switch over to AoA. I don't mind the actual resort switching, I just don't want a problem with our tickets or FP+

It will impact your ADRs. Your ADR booking will be 180 days before first check-in + dates of that stay, then the rest of the trip can be booked for ADR from 180 days from the second check-in date.

The FP+ system is separate, and right now it's rumored to still allow booking the entire trip from the first day of a split stay. This seems to be a loophole and I don't know that you can count on it staying open.

Hmm. The ADRs I can live with, but if they change the FP+ before March that would be a problem.

We recently booked FP+ for our upcoming split stay, and were able to get them for our entire trip at 60 days from our initial arrival day.
As mentioned, ADRs work differently and we had to do them in two batches at 180 days from the start of each reservation.

Yeah, that ADRs book one way and FP+ another is inconsistent, and I'd worry that they'd make it consistent. The problem is if they make it consistent so FP+ is like ADR.

Only time will tell. But, if they make it consistent at least the playing field is still level as everyone will have to book under the same rules. Those of us who choose to do split stays will just have to live with it.
