Split stays and ADRs

I'm doing a 12 day split stay in August and tried to book reservations for the entire trip.
I assumed that I could book for my entire stay.

I was informed that I can only book for each reservation. The first reservation does not allow me to book any dates other than the dates of that hotel reservation. I have to wait for each hotel reservation to activate the associated ADR window.

Spoke with 4 CMs and a supervisor. They wanted to help but the computer prevents them.

There are a few threads here that say if you call the dining line they can override the system.
Doesn't seem like is true now.

When I booked ADRs for my split stay, I was limited to the length of each reservation.

The 180+10 means you may book up to ten additional days depending on the length of your reservation. When you have a split stay, you can only make ADRs for the days associated with that reservation. It makes sense in theory, as the perk only applies to guests that stay at a Disney resort and you shouldn't be allowed to make ADRs outside of your resort reservation window.

I wasn't very excited about waking up at 5am twice within a few days, but what can you do? :confused3

I also thought they could override the system but I spoke with two CM's and they can't. I'll have to get up again on Wednesday. Great. To make it all worse I got up at 530 today but there was a glitch and I couldn't make any of my +10 ADRs. I had to call back at 7 pm.

I have a split stay also at the end of August and was able to do 180+10 which included dates from the second stay by phone. Strange how we are not all getting the same answers. Online, however, I can't do anything until tomorrow for the 2nd portion of the trip

Interesting, I was planning to call to book the second half of my split stay this weekend. I guess if I don't get a helpful CM I should hang up and call again? Seems like very bad luck to get 4 CMs and a supervisor all refuse when someone else gets it so easily! My day is sunday, and I'll report back...

I called again and was old it can't be done. She again said they just updated the system (maybe when they loaded BOG lunch) and it no longer lets them override the system.

I want BOG for the last day of our stay. I will have to make it on Wednesday.

Just found this out this morning! I had never encountered a problem till this trip-we do many split stays-perhaps it was a loop hole they closed up.

Basically you are being penalized for doing a split stay. You are not being given the same advantage to book 180 + 10 when staying on property. Disney obviously doesn't want DVC members or anyone to do a split stay. You could have booked in one resort and had this "180 + 10 privilege", but you, me and many others choose to do a split stay and are losing out because of it. I spoke with Disney about this unfair situation and was told "well split stays are mostly a DVC thing" and "If I wanted the 180 +10 I should just book my DVC stay in one resort". Maybe if enough people complain and call they will make the policy fair to their consecutive split-stay guest. Its a very frustrating situation. I just posted this in the other split-stay thread.

Disney does not recognize split stays. They don't use that term. To them, it is 2 separate reservations, and are treated as such. It is no different than how they handle discount codes. I can't see them changing it anytime in the near future.

The whole 180+10 think is changing. Have you ever wondered why we call it "+10"? In the old days, no matter how long your reservation, you could book dining for 10 days past your check-in date. Even if you were only staying two nights, you could book 10 days of dining reservations. So, they updated the online system so it's now 180+[Length of Stay]. Until recently, the phone agents could still book based on the old +10 rule. It sounds like they changed that ability.

This is first year I'm not able to access +10 for onsite split-stay reservations.

...and I can't help but wonder if the throwaway room people had something to do with this... :(

Wouldn't surprise me. Every time people find a loophole, Disney does something to make it not so attractive.
