Split stay with BLT and BCV

I have a 7 night reservation booked for BCV, but I wanted to get some suggestions/advice from everyone regarding making this into a split stay with BLT. We have never done a split stay and in addition, my Mom is coming for the first time. It would be for 2 studios, one for my Mom (and my 2 girls) and the other for my myself and wife.

My idea behind doing a split stay is that it would allow us to stay at BLT for the first time (assuming we can get the rooms) and a little variety. In addition, it would provide us easier access to the appropriate parks for each hotel (more of a convenience for my Mom if she feels like she wants to go back to the hotel; she can walk back or hop on the monorail, instead of waiting and taking a bus).

Our plan is to go to Epcot and MK for 2 days each, and then AK and HS for one day each, with the other two days (arrival and departure days) for going to the pools or possibly a park. I was thinking BCV is perfect for Epcot and HS, and BLT for MK (and possibly Epcot) and then it would be a bus ride for AK on one day.

From reading several other posts, it appears that moving from one hotel to another is very easy and Disney makes it as painless as possible.

Are there any drawbacks/negatives to my plan?

Any comments, suggestions, and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Evan

We did this exact split this summer--3 nights BCV and then 3 nights at BLT.

It was an easy move and I loved being at both resorts. My DH didn't really like it because he is not fond of the summer heat and didn't like not having a room to head to in the afternoon.

We were lucky in that the rooms was ready at 12:45 pm and we had scheduled ourselves to attend the member event at TOTWL at BLT so that helped. But, had it not been, we would have not had any place to go--too hot at the parks and DH is not a pool person so we would have been hanging around in stores. Although someone went this summer and on the split day did a trip to DTD which I thought was a great idea, probably what I would do next time.

But, if I end up going next summer and he doesn't come with us, I will split again. I loved being able to walk to Epcot and DHS when we were there and then had our time at BLT to spend at MK. The only driving we had to do was to AK one morning.

Since MK is our favorite park, if we do the split again, I will only do 2 days at BCV and then 4 at BLT.

We have a split stay coming in October. We are spending 3 nights at BCV and 5 nights at BLT. We love BLT since it's our home resort, but my husband wanted to check out BCV and SAB and since the food and wine festival is going on, we think it's a good time to be at an Epcot resort. While at BCV we are going to Epcot and DHS. Then when we move to BLT we can walk to MK and monorail to Epcot very easily.

We also like to do the first few days of our vacation with the deluxe dining plan and then we switch to the regular dining plan for the longer stay. We feel that being on the deluxe plan for a 3-4 days is enough for us. We get to do a few signature places and lots of snacks for food and wine.

We did this in July and it worked smoothly. We called bell services on our checkout day from BLT and they took all our bags and delivered them to AKL.

we stayed at the blt and walking back from the mk was great. we were able to rest for bit and then go back later in the day after spending sometime in the pool relaxing. it is also an easy trip to epcot as well since you just hop on the monorail and switch at the transfer station. i think your plan will work out great for you.

Add me to the list of fans of the split stays.

In November 4 nights at BLT and 3 at BCV. Variety is nice and gives us proximity to MK for a few days and Epcot for a few.

Also allows us to see/try more resorts quicker.

Our other split stays have been great. Very limited issues having luggage moved.

Thanks to all who replied.

When I called last week to try and book 2 standard studios at BLT for the last 3 nights of our trip (so the first 4 would be at BCV and then we would switch to BLT for the remaining 3), there were none available. So, for some odd reason (which I now can't remember!), I decided to see if there were any standard 2-rooms available and there wasn't. So I was put on the wait list for that.

Today, I realized that I forgot to ask about a wait list for 2 standard studios. So, I called to ask to be put on the wait list for the studios and...no need for a wait list; they had two available!

This will be our first DVC stay and we are super excited now that we get to try out two of the "harder to get" resorts.

Thanks again to everyones help,

Evan

I love split stays....like PP said....feels like 2 vacations. Add to that resort #1 M.K then move to Epcot area....Perfection;)

I am doing a triple split in April....thats a first.

5 nights WLV, 4 night Carnival Cruise, then 3 nights WLV.

My 7 month mark comes on Sun...I will try and get BLT....for one of those stays:goodvibes
Wish me luck:goodvibes

Congratulations on your booking success!!!

Enjoy staying so close to three parks.

(We have a BCV+BLT split stay next month. When our waitlist came through, I think it took a month before we came back down to earth.)

Thanks again to all for your comments...

This will be our first DVC stay, so we are very excited to try out what appears to be the most popular (?) two resorts (our home resort is OKW). Actually I should say I am very excited; my wife and family have no idea where we are staying and what I have planned!
