Split stay with Beach Club in June or no?

We are traveling to WDW June 28-July 5. It is a very resort heavy trip, mostly to use dvc points from our cancelled Jan. trip. At first, we were going to spend the whole week at Fort Wilderness in a cabin. (We usually camp in CT for a few days, but are replacing it with FW to use up our expiring dvc points) Kids are 8 and 10, so they are perfect ages to enjoy the bunk beds, archery, horse back riding, etc.

Last night I was browsing and was able to switch to a BC studio for the first 3 nights. June 28-July 1. DS10 has started to beg to stay there once he saw it two years ago. He wants to swim in SAB. I booked it not realizing SAB is listed to be closed until June. Should I take the chance that SAB will most likely be open by the last weekend of June or switch us back to the full week at FW. After this trip, we are taking a break for a few years from Disney so it’s not like we can just stay there next time.

I’d switch back to FW. Those dates would be cutting it too close for me. And I’d be stressed about it leading up to my stay.

The other thing is, I’d wait for a few more years anyways. That lazy river is super deep in spots. My kids were 8 and 11 and pretty good swimmers on our first trip to SAAB. But the pool was packed and it was easy to lose them. We found it super stressful.

Nope! Switch back to FW. The kid will be devestated if SAB isn’t open. Especially if it’s filled with water and looks like it should be open but it’s still in testing/prep for opening after you leave. Oof! That would be the worst!

Easy desicion, choose BC. A brand new SAB that will be closed for maintenace from January through May 2025. You are staying in June! End of June 😀 perfect
I bought dvc because of the sand beach at SAB but strangely enough my family often use the dvc pool (Dunes Cove pool) and not SAB. My point being is that your family will probably enjoy Beach club even if you choose not to use SAB.. You can also pool hop to boardwalk or other dvc resorts. Or it was possible before. The seccond reason i bought into dvc. Its not allowed to pool hop at the moment (so sad) but if SAB is still closed im sure you will get (over)compensated somehow.
Another alternative is to change the BC reservation to two days.

Disney has it on the schedule to be closed through June 2025. Disney isn’t generally known for finishing too many things ahead of schedule, but it could happen.

Hmm, it's a gamble, but with your dates I'd be inclined to keep BC. Disney originally had through May but later updated it through June, for whatever that is worth.

If you don't want to keep it, don't fret - if you happen to hit BC during a wave of daily afternoon storms it can knock SAB out for chunks of time and hopefully they'll be other trips.

Just stayed in the cabins last week, loved them. Have fun whatever you decide!

I’d keep BC. Even if SAB isn’t open it’s an amazing resort and area, we adore it! On our last trip we did a split between Grand Floridian and BC - the Grand was nice but we couldn’t wait to get back “home” to the BC! Our first trip my girls were 3 and 7 and we didn’t have any issues with the size of the pool and keeping track of them. They are now 16 and 12 and don’t want to stay anywhere else

Are you going to the parks at all? If you are visiting EP/DHS, I would do the BC/Ft. W split even if SAB is closed. BC will make getting to EP and DHS so much easier than going from Ft. W. If SAB is closed, maybe consider going to a water park (included on your check-in day) on the day you transfer from BC to Ft. W. SAB isn't great IMHO, but the water parks are a lot of fun!
