Split stay with 5 day park hopper...do I forfeit MM?

Does anyone know if I do a split stay with a 5 day park hopper (2 nights GCH the rest Homewood) if I can still get the 1 MM with a 5 day park hopper ticket? I assume it's forfeited because the first 2 days will be EMH for staying onsite?

Or would I be lucky enough to get 2 EMH and then 1 MM because of the 5 day park hopper?

If there's any chance you will be back to the parks within a year, consider getting a Deluxe AP. You wont get any early entrance (for what little thats worth considering the west side of the park is closed during that time) but you will get discounts on food and merchandise and if you do go back within a year, the tickets are paid for.

So here's another question then. If AP's are good 366 days...what would that put me at? I'd like to try and do the week before our spring break again next year. So if I'll be there on February 29-March 4 this year and then if I upgraded it backdates me to the first day I entered the park correct? so then 366 days I think would be March 2. Does that allow me in the parks until March 2 or up and ON March 2? I could potentially make it back before then if we have APs but I'd like the same week next year and March 2 would end me on a Thursday which would be fine. I hope that makes sense.

We were going to do something similar last year and I was told that I would still get my magic morning. To use the EMH you use your hotel key card but the magic morning is done separately. We ended up staying at the hotel so I can't say for sure you'll be okay but when I had called customer service they told me I would get both.

The AP will expire one year after the first time you use the 5 day ticket so if you use the 5 day hopper for the first time on March 2, 2016, the AP will expire at the end of park operating hours on March 2, 2017. If you use the 5 day hopper for the first time on Feb 29, 2016, most likely it will expire on March 1, 2017 since there is no Feb 29 next year.

Oh that makes perfect sense and we're kinda in the same boat. We went in Nov. and would like to do so again but it would be more than a year on our AP's. So we'll be going the second week of Sept instead. (Though if the walls are still up around the ROA, we wont go at all in 2016)
I "think" that if you went to the park the first time on March 2nd then the next time you would have to back it up enough to get your whole trip in before that date.

You are still entitled to your MM. But make sure that when the cast member scans you in during EMH they do NOT use your MM. Just tell them as you hand over the family tickets that you don't want your MM used when entering DL. You will get EMH the day the day you check in as well as the day you check out FYI.

Since I changed my dates I cannot decide whether to suck up the price difference for the 2 nights at Homewood Suites or jump to GCH for 2 days then Homewood for the rest. Packing up would be a pain but the EMH would be nice.

Honestly, for me, if I were going to split my stay, I would stay at Homewood first and end the stay at Grand Californian.

I wish I could but the dates are sold out and even before they weren't it was $659/night. No way! The first two nights is only $327.

We just did this (I posted about it on another thread). I had a bit of a hard time with it - one CM felt one way and one thought we should still get it. Here's what I wrote:

We had something similar to this happen - not the Character breakfast entrance, but we did a split stay (first on site and then on Harbor). On the Tuesday when I qualified for EMH due to staying onsite, I asked the CM at the turnstile to ensure that I was being let in on my hotel entry and not using up the MM (so I could use it Thursday when we would be staying offsite). The CM beside her said that wasn't allowed. The CM I was dealing with thought I should be and told me I should bring my room keys Thursday to explain (which I wasn't too pleased about, but we were the first in line with a crowd behind us so I thought I would just go to Guest Services and sort it our later). But then when I went to get a FP it revealed that the tickets weren't scanned properly, so I am wondering if that's how the CM let us in without screwing up the MM (i.e., somehow did that purposely so I wouldn't have trouble on Thursday, although I have nothing to back this up...).

It did make me very wary of doing anything like that again, though....

Ha ha..that was my post. I was trying to figure out if I minnie's 9:10 how not to use my MM. That is if I use all days at Homewood. Maybe I'll just stay there and not have to worry about switching resorts.

That's funny.... :goodvibes For us it was a real pain to switch resorts from DLH to BWPPI, as we didn't want to drag our luggage through security on the esplanade to get to Harbor with all the metal detectors, etc. So we ended up cabbing it mid day but it was disruptive. DH's opinion was that it totally wasn't worth it and that we should have just stayed offsite the whole time. And if the MM thing had been taken away I would have been really mad - that's why I stayed onsite to begin with, to get two extra EMH days.

Is the GCH something you really want to do? I'm asking because depending on the prices at the other hotel maybe you could do DLH or Paradise Pier the whole time? We really enjoyed our EMH and felt like it's worth the extra cost (plus my husband likes being in the Disney bubble). You can also find discounts on Orbitz for the hotels at almost 20% off (you just have to pay upfront).

No, I was considering it because I changed my dates and my offsite hotel went up to $199/night. For that I felt like I should just stay on property for a couple nights. PP is $267 for those 2 nights and DLH is the same price as GCH. For my other dates all hotels are sold out.
