Split stay questions

For the first time we are considering a split stay. Right now we're booked for 6 nights at AKL. I've been very indecisive in the resort choices because there's just too darn many! Anyway DH told me that he wouldn't mind staying at Poly or BC. I would love to stay at Poly but our first 2 nights we will be at MK until midnight. The first night is MK's EMH's and the second we'll be attending the Pirate & Princess Party. I can't see paying rack rates at Poly not beeing in the room for that long.

So I'm thinking of ASMu for our first 3 nights w/ free dining and 6 day tickets and then the following 3 nights @ Poly w/ free dining and 1 day tickets. The package is actually cheaper than our current package at AKL.

Does Disney transfer your luggage? And how does ME work when you are dropped off at one resort and picked up at another?

For those of you that do split stays, what has been your experience? Is this something you would recommend or is it more of a hassle?

Disney will transfer your luggage. You just call luggage service or bell services and they will pick up and deliver to your new resort. I can't tell you how prompt they will be as any time we have done a split stay we had a car of our own to move the luggage.

For split stays, when you get the paperwork you will get two sets of tickets for ME. When we did this last December we did the first part of our stay at POP and then went to Poly. When we checked in for ME at the airport the CM at first thought we were returning to the airport after the POP stay. I showed her the second set of return tickets from the Poly and everything got set up correctly. We got a notice at Poly on the day before we left and everything was correct. If you do the split stay I would just make sure they get it straight at the airport when you check in at ME desk.

Your plan sounds good either way you do it. Hope you have a good trip.

Thank you, Mr Pig! I really appreciate you clearing that up for me and the tip on ME.

I do have one more question. We will be doing the 6 day tickets on the ASMu package will those transfer over to the Poly room keys or how will that work? TIA

The tickets stayed on the room keys (which you keep) for the first stay. At least that is the way we did it. They may be able to transfer the tickets to your second stay but they don't automatically transfer and we didn't ask. It meant we had to keep two sets of key cards at our second stay, one for the room and one for the parks, but that wasn't too much of a hassle.

Disney will transfer your lugagge. We stayed our first night at Pop which is where DME dropped us off. Going back home we were at CBR and had no problem with DME picking us up there.

I called this morning and we now have 2 free dining packages one for ASMu and the other for the Polynesian.
