Hi -

Perhaps someone has advice/experience...?

We're doing an upcoming split stay - first four nights at Nick Hotel, then six at the YC. Of course, we can't use the free ME to get from the Orlando Airport to the Nick Hotel, but will use it on the return from the YC back to the airport. We're a party of five. Does anyone know about what the taxi fare is from MCO (airport) to the Nick?

Old disboard posts show Nick Hotel/WDW taxis run about $20 per ride. Is that still about the current rate - does anyone know? There are free hotel shuttles, but only hourly and we may not want to (always) stick to their schedule, due to early am tours and late P&P Party ressies.

We love being shuttled around (!) and not having to drive ourselves, but should we *REALLY* be considering a car rental instead? We are AP holders, so I think we get free onsite parking... But, the thought of having to schlepp the car back to MCO in the middle of our stay - when we switch over to the YC (and can use the Disney buses) - ugh!

Would appreciate any info or suggestions from those who have "been there"

Thanx!

We have stayed at the Nick hotel last year and about 6 years previously before it was the NIck hotel. First, we were shocked to find how little the area has developed in the years since it opened. There is very little within walking distance and I think the food court and restaurant would get tiring.

You can usually find rental cars for about 20 a day or less. To me, I wouldn't stay at Nick hotel without a car... but that is just me. We don't mind driving to the parks -- it is very convinent.

Thanks! I did call Enterprise to see how much $ for rentals and if/where my husband could drop the car instead of having to take it back to the airport after dropping the rest of us at the YC. It turns out there is an Enterprise office 3/10th of a mile from the Nick Hotel (and only a couple of miles from the YC) and we could drop it there free of charge. Also, there's a free shuttle from that Enterprise site that would drop him back off at the YC.

We're going to check into this further...
