Split Stay....KTTW Cards

If we check into one Disney hotel ,receive our KTTW cards (which would include 7 day hoppers), then check into a second Disney hotel.....would we hand the KTTW card in at the first hotel then pick up another at the second hotel?
If so, what if we intend to go to a park that day before we get checked into the second hotel.....we have no cards ?

The park tickets on the first KTTW are good for the whole length of your stay (expiring 14 days after they are first used, unless non-expiry option was purchased). If you are going on the day of your move to the new resort, your tickets on your old card (and dining) are still valid.

When you check into your new resort you can either keep the old card and use it just for park entry, or you can ask that your remaining tickets be transferred onto your new card.

Your choice, but I've heard of screwups happening with the ticket transfers. Lots of people just continue to use the old card (mark it with a sharpie so you can tell the difference).
