We're going to be doing a split stay in November to take advantage of Free Dining for part of our trip.

11/12-11/14 ???
11/14-11/18 AKL with FD

So, help me out here, folks, where should we stay for our first two days. Our current reservation is for both stays at AKL, but now we're thinking about trying something new. Maybe one of the Port Orleans, but I could be talked into something else.

We don't want to stay at an All-Stars and we've stayed at CSR and POR before, but not with the kids (7 and 2). So, what do you all think?

would probably choose POFQ - it does NOT have a full restaurant - only the counter service place. you have to walk to POR to get a full restaurant. that say think the free dinning at the moderates is only counter service.

To clarify, we can't get Free Dining for 11/12-11/14, so we'd be doing RO reservations for those two days. Why do you like POFQ? We've never been there and I'd like to check it out, but wasn't sure if the kids would like it as much.

If in budget, I'd go Contemporary :) If you want a mod, check out POFQ. The small size is just so convenient! Plus the boat to Disney Springs is a nice touch.

My favorite mod is Coronado Springs.

Great pool, good location, and the quick service restaurant is one of the better ones on the property

If you want a mod, I would go with POFQ. If deluxe, Beach or Yacht Club.

I really want to try POFQ now after looking through some pictures, but my DH wants to do POP for the first two days so we can do a Savannah view at AKL for the last four. We've never been to POP either. Talk me into POP?

We usually stay at Wilderness Lodge as a family, but when it is just the two of us we generally stay at POP. It is a really solid value for the money, pool is nice and food court is good. They have designated buses so you don't have to share the buses with other resorts. It is going to be a lot more crowded just due to the size of the resort and there often is a longer wait for the buses. There is no cover for waiting for the buses so if you are there in the summer it can get really hot. If a moderate is in your budget, we really like Port Orleans Riverside. Again - pool is great and the food court offers good food that is fairly priced. The grounds are beautiful with lots to explore --you can be in the more rustic area or the plantation area --- and you have access to the watercraft that you can take to Disney Springs. There is also a fun bar area off the lobby with a comedian who performs several times a week. You can also walk to POFQ and use their pool as well - that is allowed:)
Have a great time!
