Thought I would post this to the experts as we have not ever had a split stay nor rented DVC points. We will be going to WDW for my oldest DD HS graduation. We are planning on a 2018 trip June 15th to 26th starting with 7 days at Pop Century and 6 days renting dvc points at AKL club level- Savannah view.

Will this complicate ADRs? Magic bands?
How do you move between different properties? What is the most efficient way?
Will this cause problems with disney magic transportation for the return to the airport?
How does turn down service work at the DVC sites for club level?
How much does it cost for extra mousekeeping if needed?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Nope.

Magic bands?

Nope. You can get a set of Magic Bands for each leg of the trip and both will work the entire trip. My wife likes this as then she has a couple different colored Magic Bands to coordinate with what she's wearing. Or you can decline the set of Magic Bands of the 2nd leg of the trip and use the one for the entire trip.

This is what we do and find it works great with zero loss of park/fun time:
Call Bell Services at resort #1 and ask them to come pick up our luggage and move it to resort #2.
Check out of resort #1.
Take WDW transportation to a park.
Late afternoon, take WDW transportation to resort #2.
Check In to resort #2.
Once in our room, call Bell Services and ask them to bring up our luggage.
While waiting for luggage, get freshened up for dinner.

Will this cause problems with disney magic transportation for the return to the airport?

Nope. When you make your ME reservation tell them the resort your going to from MCO and then tell them the resort your need to get picked up from going back to MCO.

How does turn down service work at the DVC sites for club level?

They come in around 4PM, turn down the beds and leave some chocolates on the pillows.

How much does it cost for extra mousekeeping if needed?

6 days renting dvc points at AKL club level- Savannah view.

1. Club Level is not Savannah View at DVC. It's roof view, realistically. View is not bookable at AKV Club.

2. There are 5 total DVC Club Level 2BR units, for a maximum of 10 total units IF all of them are booked as studio and 1BR units.

3. It is extremely rare to rent a DVC Club Level at AKV. You not only need an AKV owner to do it, but you need an AKV owner who will "walk" the reservation and start working to book it before 11 months. This will never happen via an agency, and most private owners won't bother. The only way this happens is if you know an AKV owner and you have compromising pictures of them and you pay them extra.

Sorry to throw cold water on the plan, but the reality is that just because you can calculate the points cost of a room in a DVC unit calculator doesn't mean you have more than a 0.05% chance of booking this particular unit.

I agree with @_auroraborealis_ , there is virtually NO CHANCE of booking an AKL Club Level Villa while renting points. Even as a DVC owner, I have virtually no chance since my home resort is BCV. And we bought direct at BCV for the ability to book during Food & Wine.
Sorry

FWIW, as I'm assuming you're looking at studios based on the Value split at Pop, 6 days including weekend dates at CL (which you are unlikely to get) is 111 points. The whole stay at Saratoga would be 170, all 13 days, and likely cheaper than Pop, or 184 to book an AKV Standard, which doesn't have club level access but has views similar to the CL rooms. That's for all 13 days.

At this point in the plan, I am only exploring and pushing numbers around. The only solid plans at this point is the length of stay. So no worries about my being devastated . I do appreciate the responses from the experts here.

I was looking at the split for two reasons which is cost and experiencing 2 resorts (and levels value &deluxe). AKL was one of the options because DD wants to see the savannah. What do you think will be the most likely view available via a rental company?

You'll most likely be able to get a Savannah view in a regular room. It's the Club Level that will be a problem.

Rental companies are dealing with the same availability as owners, since they're really more of a dating service between people with points they need to rent out, and people who want to rent reservations. AKV Standard and Savannah are plentiful, and often available at 7 months. Prior to 7 months, it's a matter of an AKV owner being available. AKV Value and AKV Club Level tend to book up at 11 months or near to it, and are rare/near unicorn to get as rentals, respectively.

For a grad trip, I don't know that "experiencing a Value resort" is necessary, personally. Double beds, no coffee pots and no hot tubs?

No, it is not necessary nor is a trip to Disney necessary. It was merely a request from DD. Double beds, lack of coffee pot and hot tub are not important to our family. So a value should be okay if we choose to go that route. The information you have provided has been so helpful. Thank you so much.

When I had a split stay they would only allow me to make the ADRs for the first reservation and I had to call back a couple days later to make the ADRs for the second reservation. It's two completely separate reservations in the system.

Correct!!! Disney does not recognize "split stays". It is an internet term.
You will have 2 separate reservations.
ADR's can only be made 180 + 10 from the start of each reservation. But as long as you have tickets linked to your MDE account, I believe you will be able to make all of your FP+'s at the 60 day mark for both reservations.

Yes I had no issues with FP+. I've only heard of problems if the first portion of your trip is RO. You can only start making FP+ 60 days from the start of the reservation with tickets. No making FP from the beginning of your RO stay with intentions of picking up tickets early once you arrive.
