Split stay and Magic Bands question

I am thinking of doing a split stay of 1 week BWI, and 1 week AKL. Do I need a second set of magicbands or can the original ones be reprogramed on switch over day at the first resort? If not, do I have to get to the second resort before I can get to the second bands and have them programmed. I'm in Canada, so they won't deliver them ahead of time. I'd welcome any thoughts from someone who has done it.
 
We have done split stays and when you check in at the second resort they will scan your both set of bands so you can access your room. Not sure about how to get your second set of bands beforehand. Since we are from NJ, we get both sets of Magic Bands ahead of time and the first resort scans both sets for us.

You only need one set of MBs for your entire stay. You can decline the second set or you can order it if you want a second color or premium band. All of the bands will work for your resort rooms and tickets.

MagicBands don't have to be reprogrammed when you check into a new resort. They should automatically work - but - you may want to have them double check the bands when you check in, just in case.

Thank you. I'll look into whether Disney would be willing to ship both sets to resort 1. That would simplify things.

1. No. You can decline the 2nd set when you do online check-in (decline used to be easier, now it only appears to be available via online check-in.) If you don't do online check-in, you'll get a 2nd set, which you can also accept if want.

Any magic band on your account will work even ones from 5 years ago that have not been removed yet.....we have brought magic bands from trips past and they have always worked even though we had new ones.
 
Every magic band we own works with each new trip with no new programming required. All of them were the free ones. I know the ones you buy would have to be programmed but once they are, you're good to go forever.
