We frequently do split stays.
While the 1 night will be short, you also won't have to unpack much of anything.
That's probably the key to moving around- packing correctly, and not unpacking everything at each stop.
One way to do this is to pack one suitcase for you, and once for her. Another is to stack your packed outfits by day, so each day you only unpack from the top 1 outfit each day. I use just a sturdy plastic bag for laundry, which becomes a temp 3rd suitcase until late in the week.
I also use a soft duffel bag for: toiletries, underwear/socks (ziploc by person), bathing suits and pajamas. Mostly, that's the only bag that gets unpacked at all. (For 1 night, I mostly hotel soap/shampoo products and hairdryer.) Otherwise, I just keep travel sized toiletries packed in freezer-style quart bags (for TSA). I put daily-need items in one bag, and "maybe need' items in another (like otc meds, band aids)
At each stop, we often only unpack little more than the bag of daily needed items.
If everything has a designated spot in the luggage, then it is really easy. That's kind of the trick. Each time you unpack your cords, toiletries, pj's, etc.- put them back in the same place in your luggage. Cords are easy to forget. We pack ours AS SOON as we unplug on transfer days.
Moving hotels doesn't take up too much time, but it does = a few hours that you might not have access to a room on transfer days. Disney is often very good about early check-ins at the bigger hotels. DO tell them via online check-in when you plan to arrive if it will be early via car. Your room might be ready early.
We try to swim on non-transfer days. Good idea- as soon as you remove swim suits- towel dry them, and they'll often be dry by morning. Another trick we use is to put them in the back window of the car to dry. In FL, it only takes a few hours.
