This may be a bit confusing, I apologize. But looking for some clarity from the expertise here. :)

We are staying for 3days at AKL, then heading to Clearwater for a week, then back to BLT for 4days. I just received my second set of magic bands today. I'm curious though, I purchased a 6day MYW ticket. It shows as linked in my disney experience. Will the admissions days be available on both sets of bands??

I'm afraid (not that it's a big deal) that I will have to wear both sets of bands for the second stay, as the first set will have our activated MYW tickets for park admission?? Or is the system "smart" enough to know that I still have 4 days left on my park admission ticket in the second set of bands??? Or do I need to have member services do something to link or activate when we check in for the second stay??

Whoops maybe this isn't the best place to ask this question. Forgot which board I was on. So I asked on the theme park strategy board. Sorry!!

Nothing is actually stored on the MagicBands except for a unique band id number. Your park admission, room reservation, FP+ selections, MagicBands, etc. are all linked to your MDE profile. The MagicBand is just a key to reading the information from your profile. All MagicBands assigned to you can be unused interchangeably.

I did a split stay in November and received two sets of bands too. I was able to use the same band the whole time. I plan to bring it with me on our trip next week too, but am bringing the new one that I received for this trip "just in case".

I wondering what they will start doing with split stays.
Four our summer trip if our waitlist does not come through we have 4 separate reservations. Hoping it does come through - but we will have 3 (GFV, AKV-concierge, BWV).

We also have magic bands from our december trip with our AP on them

Same thing they have been doing.

Your APs are not stored ON the bands.

Your APs are stored on the MDE account.

The bands access the account. Therefore they access the APs.

If all of your MBs are active on your account (and they are automatically active unless you disactivate them) (is "disactivate" a word?) they will ALL work.

I now have all colors but yellow, I brought them all on our last trip, and each one I wore (it depended on what else I was wearing) worked for its intended purpose.

I had a split stay in January and had a rough time with the MBs. Hopefully they have ironed out some of the kinks since then.

I looked into deactivating them. They seem to still stay on MDE and can be reactivated at any time!

So my question is, if I toss them, couldn't someone take them and try to reactivate them at Disney? I'd assume a CM could override a deactivated MB. What kind of personal info is on there? At least with the KTTW cards I can shred them...not sure what to do with MB. :confused3

Everyone in the family has one of each color. For anyone doing split stays, I'd recommend ordering each set. If you don't, they will have them at the resort at check in. We also had issues in Dec where only certain MBs would open the room. CM wasn't able to get all the MBs to work. So take all of them with you!

Nothing is on the band at all. It has no memory drive. All it does is emit a fixed number.

Say you lost a band. Anyone could take it to a CM, but if he ran it on the system your profile would come up and that wouldn't be the person holding the band.

You can't charge with them unless you are currently booked into an on-site resort, and even then only if you have the four digit pin.

You can't use them for gate entry without fingerprint verification. And if the person tried bypassing the fingerprint, the supervisor cm at the gate would see that the profile the band pulled up wasn't the person wearing it.

Net summary, they're nothing to worry about. We recycled ours after we got one of each color that every family member wanted. We visit a lot and always do split stays, so we have a ton of bands...

The person wouldn't be able to get into your account.

And a CM would need to see ID even IF they could activate them again. And I doubt if they could.

We had our DD and GF join us for our last day of vacation. As we had 4 bands we gave them 2 for room access.

It made me wonder if the MB will lead to abuse. :rolleyes1 Once we left the room access wouldn't work anymore but they could wear them and Disney employees would just assume they were guests allowing them access to most of the pools and bus system.

The bus system is open to all guests, which is defined as people visiting the parks AND resorts. So...everyone who gets onto WDW property is a guest, and they get to use the buses.

Pools...all that has to happen is for them to scan the band, which they've been doing, to see if you're allowed to be there.
