I think this has the potential to be really good. I am excited to see what they come up with.

Literally, I'm sick at this news. My family's favorite of all time. Splash....gone forever.

I hate you, Disney.

But it's not gone. You can still ride it. It's just going to have a different theme. A theme that actually makes sense to the casual Disney fan (which is the overwhelming majority of people who go to Disney parks).

Now I'm daydreaming about how awesome a Tiana's Place restaurant could be, a fabulous character dining experience with delicious food, maybe a live jazz band, and Tiana, Prince Naveen, and maybe Louis with his trumpet! Could be so much fun!

Disney has already done this on their cruise line. The Disney Wonder has a Tiana's Place Restaurant, complete with a trumpet playing Louis. . So, certainly they have experience with this theming already. I would like to see a restaurant like that in the Magic Kingdom.

But the music is gone. The characters are gone. The Zip-a-Dee lady final scene is gone. Forever. My happy place. My laughing place. I'm just sick.

I LOVE Splash Mountain, the song the ride and the story. When I read the rumers of the change to PaTF I knew Disney would cave. Even though the line for Splash is always long and the ride is always at the top of the favorites list at Magic Kingdom. It seems that now people who do not own or have any claim to attractions, statues, or street names, feel that what they want is all that matters, and will call anyone who has a different opinion racist to get their way.
Here is an idea.. if you don't like Brer Bear and Brer Rabbit.. don't ride Splash Mountain.

Like some have said, Splash Mountain is our family’s favorite MK ride and will be sad to see it go. We had great memories on it and hope to ride it again before it closes. That said, I completely sympathize and respect any significant group of people that feels uncomfortable, especially something as inconsequential as a ride in Disney. Most things that Disney does is amazing and I would be excited to see what they can do. Walt Disney himself said that Disney is not a museum and will always try and change with the times. Let’s all keep an open mind.

I just hope they do the existing ride experience and The Princess and the Frog justice and do it well. I don't want to see Splash Mountain become another Maelstrom

Such a shame Maelstrom was great (as have Norwegian heritage). I am fine with Disney being PC, being progressive, or whatever people want to label it as (they typically seem to be in that leading side of society).

My biggest thing is that Splash Mountain has to be one of the best Disney rides out there with masterful cohesiveness. The hope is that they are telling the truth they have been working on this theme for a while and they really make it amazing.

Here's hoping the change is postponed long enough for us all to visit before they close it for refurb. I do love the current Splash Mountain and will miss it.

What I wrote to Disney today, in case anyone needs inspiration:

I wanted to write and express my thanks for Disney’s decision to re-theme Splash Mountain. Tiana is a favorite in our home, a wonderful role model for any child, and our family cannot wait to experience her new attraction in a space that is inclusive and welcoming for all. I applaud the decision to move away from a film that has deeply disturbing racist tones, which has no place in compassionate society.

I am a 20-year annual passholder, my family makes three to four visits to Disney World a year. You have earned yourself an even more loyal guest.

I’m dying for one of these in MK, I don’t want to have to hike to POFQ to get those beignets!
