Splash Mountain While Pregnant?

I read in the Unofficial Guidebook that the reason Splash Mountain is a no-no for pregnant women, is not the drop, but the way your legs are higher than your rear end, so it compresses the stomach. I will only be about 8 weeks along - my oldest DS loves Splash, but my husband hates it - he would ride if I absolutely can't, but I was wondering if anyone had any firsthand experience with this.

If I was pregnant, I would not go on it. Last time we went on, there was mechanical issues and the log in back of us kept bumping us in a jerky motion. It is not the drop but the pressure on your belly from the bar. I always go with caution when pregnant.

I'd skip it too, just to err on the side of caution. I was there when I was just slightly further along than you will be, but it didn't seem to be worth the risk.

Thanks! I forgot about the logs bumping together - looks like DH will be riding against his will :).

And thank you, KDKA! I'll read through the thread, although I'm going to avoid it this time around. The more I think about it, the more uncomfortable it would make me - we've been trying for this baby for two years, so I'm going to treat it as the precious cargo it is :).

You're welcome! Congrats and best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy!

Your DS is able to ride alone. The minimum age for riding splash alone is 7. He would not be able to take the younger one with him, though.

I rode SM when I was about a month pregnant. I had just discovered I was pregnant the week before my trip to Europe. When we visited Disneyland Paris, I passed Space Mountain, but we did ride Splash. And I had no trouble with it.

But I was only a month pregnant. I don't think I would have if I was past 4 months.

I rode 7 months pregnant after consulting with my OB. Their only recommendation was no coasters and no simulator rides such as Star Tours. I also had an uncomplicated pregnancy. My best advice is to talk to your OB to get medical advice.

Have a great time and Congratulations!

Excellent plan! You can ride next time! Have a great trip and pregnancy.

I did it unknowingly (about 7 weeks)and all was well. Once I knew I was pregnant I explained what we did on vacation and the Dr. agreed it's the position of the seats but told me it is more of an issue for those further along. Luckily all turned out well but if I had known I wouldn't have. For most people there will always be another trip to disney so if you plan on ever going back to disney wait and put it on your check list for the next trip.

I didn't find out i was pregnant until I was 4 months along, I went to Cedar point and Disney in those 4 months riding everything. I now have a beautiful, smart, and fearless daughter, who cannot wait to ride her first coaster. Take all precautions with a grain of salt. Talk to your dr and see what they say. I was so worried and when I told my dr about my trips he just said to take it easy the rest of the time.

This is true. In actual fact, the first 8 weeks are very low risk.

My SIL didn't know she was pregnant at 8 weeks and rode some stuff at a local theme park that would make your hair rise, pregnant or not!!!

I suppose the key thing is you *should* be fine, but if you weren't (for any reason at all) you'd always blame yourself.
