Spirit of Aloha

HI, we are thinking about eating at the Spirit of Aloha. Is it worth it? Did u like it? Is it like a real Lual (sp) like in hawaii? We r on the free dining plan and I'm just not sure if i want to give 2 credits up for it. Also, what if it rains? Do they still have the show/dinner? Any info on the Spirit of Aloha would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

We think it's worth it. Have always had very good service and food. Been to the authentic in Hawaii and it has parts like a real luau, but also has a corny show included. The dancing is very good though. Not sure about the weather part....I know they have cancelled when it's been too cold.

We went in 2006. I don't think that I would take small children again, but not a bad show. I really liked the food-the salad was especially good imo. The dancing was neat and the fire twirling was even better. We had super fantastic seats. We were seated front row, one table left to the very center of the stage. We used 2 dining credits for it. (This happened before they just started letting 2 TS credits be used for 2nd category seating) It is not a show that I would have to do everytime.
HDDR is more geared towards children which is why we are going back again this year for a second time.

If you have been to a Hawaiian Luau like Old Lahaina or Paradise Cove, I don't think this compares. We have been to those in Hawaii and Spirit and we were not impressed with Spirit. The food was decent, but not sure if it was the food but my wife came down with the worste case of food poisoning she has ever had. It didn't effect me though. Could have been anything, but she won't eat rubs to this day.
For those looking for a fun experience it can be fun and if you don't know any different you won't know the difference compared to those in Hawaii.
