Can someone sell me on this? My husband and sister-in-law think that it looks great, I am not sold yet. Thoughts or experiences would be appreciated before i commit so many credits to this.

Thanks in advance.

No, it is on our never again list. Food was nothing special, show was disappointing and our server smelled of alcohol. This was years ago, if that happened to me today I would have gotten a manager.

My wife and I did this show last June and thought it was a total waste of money. It was alright but at what they are charging alright didn't justify it. We wouldn't do it again.

Thanks for the advice. It is a lot of money/credits, so hearing that doesn't make me want to jump!

Thanks for the advice! No time for bad experiences :)

We go every year. We must be too hillbilly for y'all. The show is cheesy, the food is Disney Ribs and Chicken, The dancing is unique to Disney and the music live.

Now go eat at BOG.

My husband really wants to do this as well. The show is 2 hours from what I gather and you get a meal. I thought it's could be that bad.... but maybe i'm wrong.

From our experience two years ago, no. I had high hopes and was disappointed. Food was just ok and show wasn't entertaining to our six year old at all. For dinner and a show, Hoop-de-Doo is better.

Same here. My husband wants to do it for his birthday. But I'm not so sure that's a good idea.

We went for our 1 year anniversary and both my husband and I weren't impressed, especially for the price. The show was ok and the food wasn't all the great. We were both kinda disappointed, especially since thats the one of the dinners I was REALLY looking forward to!

Our Ratings of Luau: (*rev 11/2/2015*)
. . . food price value: C ("D" or "F" if using if DDP)
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: A
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: B
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: B
. . . eatery convenience: C
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff attentiveness: B
. . . character interaction: C (performance)
.
NOTE1: The Luau plays upon the traditional Hawaiian or Pacific luau. However, the "play"
is silly at best and sub-par when compared to any authentic luau. If you never plan upon
attending a true luau, then this would suffice. If you have done a real luau or will in the
future, leave this unattended. As for the food: salad was OK - bread was OK - chicken
sub-average - ribs were good - rice and veggies were flavorless. Overall, not worth the
cash price or 2-TS coupons. As for DDP, strictly financially speaking, it is better to pay
OOP than use two DDP-TD credits. If spending the money for Luau, you would be more pleased
at the Hoop-Dee-Do-Review in Fort Wilderness.
.
NOTE2: Having seen luaus in Hawaii, my daughter actually fell asleep at the Disney luau.

Are you talking about Spirit of Aloha? Sounds like you are describing my favorite, Hoop Dee Doo! Now that I love! Lol

To the OP- the only dinner show we make sure to do each trip is HDDR and is well worth the credits or paying OOP. We have done SoA, and it wasn't our thing - one and done! It was a snoozefest compared o Hoop Dee Doo, to us at least. Didn't care for the food or show.

We loved pretty much all of our dining experiences. This was way, way down on the list for us. Maybe second to bottom.

We went in super-excited as we were with my SIL who loves the show. So, high expectations and a good attitude. We had also about four days of dining under our belt, and to that point were completely and beyond satisfied.

However, I found the food meh. And the included sangria, drinks, very slow and hard to come by.

Not just that - the show is interactive and invites children up - but it is super-hard for them to get there from some locations. The stage got really crowded and there wasn't really a place to stand to be near your child that wasn't directly in everyone else's way.

It is super-crowded at the tables... there are lots of rails, you are sitting very close, backed-up to other tables and it feels like they have 12 people at an 8-person table. And then two of these tables end to end. That was probably my very biggest peeve - the server couldn't really reach anyone and there were so many people at each table - if you were anywhere near the open end of the table - you spent much of your meal passing drinks and food down. It was also super loud, hard to have a conversation.

We were there in October - so not a super-hot Florida time of year - but with shoulder-to-shoulder seating, it felt suffocatingly hot.

We didn't have the greatest seats - you are given almost bleacher seats if you use the dining plan credits - we were very off to the side and back and didn't really a great view. So for a 2TS Credit meal, that kind of sucked. Would have preferred trying another 2TS meal or even repeating one, like Cali Grill.

Years ago I would have said go for it! We tried after a 10 year hiatus for Thanksgiving and its on the never again list- go to Hoop De Doo instead

Thank you all for you for your honest thoughts! I think I will definitely be spending my two dining credits elsewhere!

LOL!US too! WE like the SOA, and while we do nto go every trip, we do go once in a while.

This is so disappointing to read. We're planning our trip next year and wanted to re-live some of our Hawaii honeymoon with the SOA show (we're also staying at the Poly). Looks like I'll be making other plans.
