This is the Luau at Poly....
Have you been?
What was good and bad about it?
Where do you suggest sitting? (they have 3 categories and you would think sitting in the most expensive seat would be the best view).
DF and I are eying the (I am assuming) Pina Colada's (in the pineapple), are they any good?
Any other info/advice you have regarding this dinner show, please share with us.

The pineapple drink is a Lapu Lapu, not a Pina Colada. They also have a drink that comes in a souvenir coconut at the luau, but I can't remember what it was.

We enjoyed the luau. The show is pretty corny in parts, but the traditional dancing was very good, and the fire dancer is really good. The food was fine. Overall we enjoyed it.

Most people seem to like Hoop Dee Doo better, but I have about the same opinions of that. Okay food, corny show, fun atmosphere.

We sat in Category 1 very close to the front when we did both shows, and that's the only way *I* would do the shows, but others feel differently. If you are using the dining plan, you will have more limitations on what show/what seats you can get using your DDP credits (I can't remember the details for the luau though).

we went in May with four adults and two munchkins...one four and one almost six.....the kids were so in awe of the whole thing...
The food was pretty darn good and we enjoyed the free wine and beer....I am not much of a drinker but the beer was good on a hot evening. We did Tier one and we were in the middle up front...It is the most money but to me the best view.
The parents were a little nervous that the kids would not eat the food that was on the platters but they did. The wait person also brought them hot dogs and mac and cheese in case. The kids also loved the chicken...

Hope you have fun

We are doing this show in May (first time for DH and the kiddos, I haven't seen the show since it was the Polynesian Luau back in the '80s) and we are very excited about it. I know this show gets a ton of bad reviews but we aren't there for the food, but more for the entertainment. I was a little leary myself whether my kids will enjoy the food or not, but after talking to DH about it, we came to the conclusion that we will keep this ADR because it is something we haven't done at Disney yet....I am glad to hear that they do offer more traditional "kid" type food for those who are picky eaters :goodvibes.

we di the show in sept of 09 and were not big fans of it. the show was not the great and not worth the money we spent on it. the food was good and the drinks were just as good. we sat in cat. 1 seating and had a great view of the show. i looked like if you were in cat 3 you would not be able to see everything or would have an obstucted view. in the end we decided that we would not go back here again. we did it once and checked it off our list.

We did the luau in September '07 and we enjoyed it :). We thought the food was very good and the show was cute :goodvibes. We were on the basic DDP at that time, but chose to pay OOP for category 1 seating and I'm glad we did.....we were seated right up front :wizard:. It's not something we would do every trip, but we had a great time and will most likely do it again sometime ;).

We did the Luau and sat in section 2 - the view was fantastic! I really don't think there are bad seats unless you are sitting behind people who like to stand up and take photos the whole time...we had one of those in front of us but the CMs took care of them ;)

The food was good and lots of it! The show was cute, my kid loved it. It was pretty loud and there is a bit of standing around while you wait for the room to open up - we had the 2nd show and waited about 20 minutes (with just a couple of places to sit) for the area to be cleared.
