Is anyone doing the spirit of aloha show in august during the free dining plan??
I booked it for the 22nd and Im hoping that its good... this is my first trip to disneyworld :) :wizard:

I would like to go to the show next year. I am wondering how it is too!

We are going to give it a try on Aug 29! I've read some people don't like the food and some don't like the show but we are going to go with an open mind and I am pretty sure we will enjoy it! We always look to find the "good" in everything we do so if everything isn't perfect we can live with that. :thumbsup2

We were at DW in Feb of 05 and stayed at the Poly and attended the luau. I'm very glad we went. The food, I thought, was very good and the show was excellent. I was very impressed. I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative comments on one of the boards I was on. Hope this helps you out.

thank you evilqueen71... i heard alot of negative comments too so thank you for sharing a positive comment... it makes me feel better about it!

I am glad to see some positives today. We are thinking of booking the show while we are at the Poly.

I think that the "Spirit of Aloha" is an excellent meal and the entertainment is pure Disney mixed with Pacific tradition. We enjoyed the show very much. However, the only down side was that the transportation after the last show in August, which gets out later than the MK if it isn't an EMH is very long and difficult unless you are on the monorail route. The last time we went we did the 8:30 show while staying at the POFQ in mid-August. The monorail was closed until you were staying at the CR or GF (not counting the Poly since you are already there). We had to catch a bus to DTD and then catch one to POFQ, which took approximately 2 hours! So this year, even though we are staying at POFQ this year, we decided not to do the luau, we are doing the HDDR, which we found to be alot more transportation friendly.

We went in Dec and our DD's (5&7) LOVED the show! We were lucky to have front row and the girls were mesmerized. We had the DDP and the waiter kept my wine glass filled without having to ask. :thumbsup2 The food was yummy. My girls had the kids menu. We were all fat and happy!
Go..Enjoy...make your own judgement..

We went in January; the food was pretty good, the entrainment fair the atmosphere alright. We used our leftover TS so we didn’t have to pay for it but I think I would have been disappointed if I had to pay $200 for it.

We enjoy the luau. Hubby has decided we must go again this year so we are booked and paid for :)

She still mentions it as a highlight of our Feb 06 trip. All of the Feb. birthdays got to get on stage, so she loved that. I personally liked the food (fresh pineapple and pineapple bread were favorites). My daughter ordered from the kid menu. She loved the dancing. The service was prompt and attentive. We had a great time. The "story" was a little cheesy, but the dancing made up for it.

Can anyone tell me about the seating arrangements? does it go by when you book it or when you arrive at the luau to check in.

We Went In January. This Was Before I Knew About The Disboards, So I Had No Thoughts Going Into It. We All Enjoyed The Show A Lot. There Is One Part Of The Show Where They Have The Kids Go Up Onto The Stage And Learn How To Hula! We Got A Lot Of Great Pics Of That And The Rest Of The Show. We We Were Not In The Front Row By Any Means And We Could See The Stage Great. I Am Not Sure How They Do The Seating Arrangements, But Its Not A First Come And You Get In The Front Row. There Was A Family Who Came Late And They Were In The Second Row. When You Make Your Adrs You Can Ask.

As For The Food, It Was Very Good Although Not The Best That Disney Has To Offer By Any Means. I Very Much Enjoyed The Bread And Salad As I Am Not Much Of A Meat Eater. But, My Dh And Ds5 Enjoyed The Chicken And Ribs A Lot! The Dessert Presentation Is Awesome Imo! I Think Think That We Would Do It Again!

If I am OT, please forgive me. Does anyone know if the food is similar to the dinner at O'Hana! My DDIL has requested dinner there, but if it is too similar, I would see if she minded if we just book the Aloha dinner.

I am going for an all girls week at the end of September and the ladies that I am bringing have never been to WDW before. I think that they will love this show. I went a couple of years ago right before they changed it but none the less I cant wait to bring them! I think they will love it. Oh and when I went I LOVED the food and the show was better than expected!

Plus..all beverages including draft beer and wine is included..woo hoo :drinking1

I just booked this on Monday for August. I paid OOP for it because my dining plan does not start till the 13th...we are doing the show on the 12th. I am looking forward to it and I see more positive comments about the show then negative.

We're doing The Spirit of Aloha show for the first time. We've always wanted to go but with alot of negative reviews, we always passed on it. My DH suggested it and said let's go and find out for ourselves. At least we'll get the chance to experience it. We're really looking forward to it! :thumbsup2

We didn't like the show at all. The food is nothing like 'Ohana so don't go expecting it to. The show was an embarrassment to watch. It was beyone corny. I personally wouldn't see it again if it were free.
