I haven't been to the luau in over 10 years and I've heard they've updated the theatre since then. Also with the new category seating and me using the dining plan I'm not sure how this works out for wheelchair users. The last time I did the luau we were seated on the lower level and I transfered out of my wheelchair into a seat that was VERY low to the ground, without transfering I wouldn't have been able to sit at the table since the table was so low to the ground. But these seats were dead center in front of the stage and I suspect they'd be category 1 seats now.

So is category 2 seating wheelchair accessible at the luau? This will be a solo trip for me so I'd prefer to stay in my wheelchair for the show.

I don't know about the Disney Luau...but the Luau (Makahiki Feast) at Sea World is excellent. the show is incredible! The staff was very courteous. My mom (standard electric wheelchair) just pulled under the table...Food was awesome. Just something to consider.

Bill, I went to the luau in 2005. When we made the ADRs we just told them we had a wheelchair with us and needed accessible seating. You enter from the exit area and are seated at a table pretty much in the front row. The moved a chair and I sat there. I don't recall having any complaints about the table height. It seemed standard to me.

You probably already know this, but when the kids get up there to do their thing with the CMs, it will be parent city and you won't be able to see a thing. That part doesn't last long though.

Bill I was there a few months ago and the tables were regular height so a wheelchair would fit at any table. I had a lady sitting right next to me and she had no problems. I work in PT so I'm always watching out for that kind of thing. ENJOY your adventure. I sure did! I also went as a single and they serve way too much food but it was fun and they don't treat singles any different than those with bigger parties. Janet:hippie:

Thanks for the replys!

I've booked the Luau. :thumbsup2 It should be a fun night.

I will consider the Sea World luau someday. But this and most of my trips are strictly WDW. I won't even be renting a car this trip so I'll be on WDW property for 10 straight days. I'm so happy with WDW that I haven't been to Sea World since 1981 and I've never been to Universal.
