Hi everyone, I was thinking of going to the Spirit of Aloha dinner show at the poly in April. I was wondering if anyone has been there lately and if there are any rave reviews what catagory should I pick?, is it worth it?

if anyone has any pics that would be great to also:thumbsup2

We went in October, and my kids (8,6,2) loved it! We did get the more expensive seats so we were in the front row. That was fun. I thought it was a good show. Not the best thing I have ever seen in my life, but it was entertaining. The food was also fine. I was expecting bad so I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the sweet bread a lot. I also liked the vegetables and rice. The meat was just okay, a bit dry.

We stayed at the Poly so we did this on arrival day. It got us in the island mood! I would do it again if the kids wanted although not every trip. I will say we usually do Chef Mickey on arrival day, but we did this instead. The food was much better IMO. I just don't like Chef Mickey's food!

We have TONS of pictures, but I have no idea how to put pictures on here. I'll try to remember to have my DH add some.

I know some people that loved the show. But I wasn't one of them.

I liked the fire dancer, that was cool.

But for the money, I wasn't all that impressed.

I had category one seats, so we were right upfront. But it cost a ton of money for my family of four (over $240). Roasted chicken and bbq ribs were certainly not worth it.

Until I start hearing rave reviews, I think we'll stick with the HDDR. Plus, we've been to a real luau in Hawaii and I don't know if anything could compare to that.

We did it Oct 2006. Really enjoyed the show. Food was just okay. Don't get the Pele's Fire Punch -- it's awful!!!!

We had a ball at the Luau. :thumbsup2
Our seats were to the right back of the stage and they were fine. Dinner was family style and very tasty. Our DD 4 (then) went onstage to learn the hoola! My other two kids (ds and dd) really enjoyed the flame thrower and all the dancers. The performers were just excellent. My DH and I had been to a luau in Maui and found the Poly show just as good.
It was a nice break from all the Disneyness.

We're going to the Spirit of Aloha show in August. I'm hope we enjoy it. I'm reading lots of mixed reviews :confused3

We went in September 2007. We were staying at the Poly and decided we'd carry out the island theme by going to the show. The food isn't very memorable and the first half of the show is extremely slow. The last little bit with the dancing and fire dancer are fun.

We decided that we were glad that we went once, but that we wouldn't do it again. . . too many other places to try.

We have reservations for August too. I am getting a little worried by some of the reviews I have seen. If the show and atmosphere are good, I think I could settle for so-so food. I guess I'll be monitoring the reviews before I make any decisions.
