Spirit of Aloha Cancellations

Hello,
We have a Spirit of Aloha show booked at 8pm for our last night of vacation. I understand that the show is outside. My question is, what happens if they cancel the show due to inclement weather? How do you know it's cancelled...do you just show up and find out?

I'm concerned that it could be cancelled, and then we'll have no where to eat that night, since it's a Friday night and most sit-downs will likely be booked. Should I make an ADR at a different restaurant in that general area just in case?

TIA for any feedback!

I was there about 3 weeks ago and had the SOA dinner for our last night of vacation also, according to the weather report it waid it was going to rain that night (it didn’t) But I called and asked and the women told me that they almost NEVER cancel unless it’s a hurricane, even though it is an outside event your still covered. That is what she told me.

PS I cancelled anyway and wish I didn’t

It rained (lightly) when I was there. The dining tables were under cover as is most of the stage.

Did not have to cancel. (Though I admit I had to find cover while waiting to enter)

They won't cancel until the absolute last minute, so you will still have to show up. More than one luau was cancelled the week we were there in June from other reports I've heard (ours was not, but the later show the same night was) - so it doesn't have to be a hurricane, but they won't cancel unless it's pretty bad rain & wind.

I'm surprised that the PP cancelled the day of - did you get your money back? SoA has a 24 or 48 hour cancellation policy, doesn't it?

Or sub freezing temperatures! But you shouldn't have to worry about that in October. :rotfl2:

Oh yeah, forgot about that possibility - we only did the luau in June, but there were some nights on our Christmas trip that were like that!

:upsidedow

Our luau was in June '03 and it was canceled. We found out when we were there, and it wasn't even raining (forecast said rain, though, but it never panned out). We got a refund (and rescheduled for THIS time!!!!) but I can't remember how .. a check? I don't think it was cash. We paid in cash this time too, but hopefully I won't find out

Good point, though, about making a "just in case" res. You have 24 horus to cancel, so you could always keep an eye on the forecast and cancel the backup res the day before if it looks clear.

Off to look into backup reservations

We were there a year ago in September and the rain was real bad so they cancelled the show but we still got fed. Everyone who was there had to wait in line to get a partial refund. I can't remember what the refund was because we were on the dining plan. I think we each got a point back but not 100% since it was a year ago.
