Hello all..

Well I orignally reserved Spirit of Alhoa for Sept 29. I recently found out about Mickey's Halloween gig. Well after seeing the cost I immediatley decided to nix it but after reading about it I do have to say it sounds interesting. The week that I am in Disney they will only feature the Halloween party the same day I have reservations for Spirit. Of course I tried to reschedule Spirit for another day but all other days are booked. I will be traveling with my DS and DD ages 10 and 5 and I cant choose which one to do. Has anyone did both? If so which one did you like better?

I've done both.

Let me just say that we did the Luau and MNSSHP both in 2002 and have done the MNSSHP two more times since then and we'll be doing MNSSHP again this October and haven't done the Luau since 2002.

The Luau was nice but not as much fun as MNSSHP and my kids would say the same thing. They were 3 and 6 at the time and they both fell asleep at the table!!!! I couldn't believe it.

For us MNSSHP wins hands down.

I have not done the Spirit of Aloha since it was the Luau. That said I think I would still pick MNSSHP for the kids. They get to wear costumes and trick or treat throughout the park. In Fantasy Land there is a dance area set up for the kids(I saw alot of little princesses). There is a parade shown only at this event and because it is a special ticket event the park is nowhere near as crowded as it is on regular nights or even EMH. If your res. for S.o.A. is early enough you could do both. Some one who has done the show will know for sure(opions will vary) but I think they let the kids get up on stage and dance, some kids like it some don't.

That's what I was thinking. I'm sure my kids would enjoy the show but to tell your friends you went trick and treating at Disney I think would be neat.. Are there many stations to get candy from??

Skip the laua! I used to like it a lot but after not going for many years we went this August and it was terrible. It is so sad it used to be great but now it isn't worth it. My DD (14) thought the dances were good but all the other filler was lousy and my DS(7) was bored. The food is only ok now also. In contrast we really liked HDDR, and on the last trip liked MNSSHP.

We have never done the Luau, but I can not tell you how much fun the MNSSHP is! We went on a "whim" and let me tell you I would do it again in a NY minute! The CM hand you bags at the entrance, and you can trick or treat all night (we personally spent most of the night in Toon Town). Lines were great on the rides and the parade was so much fun. Of course we were there the night after the Red Sox won the World Series :cheer2: and the magic spilled into the streets! We were at MK the day before and could not believe how it changed for the party the next night. My DDs (20 and 6) STILL talk about it to this day. I would HIGHLY recommend it!

We did the luau last Christmas Eve and had a blast. It was fun, and the food was very good...not at all what I expected given some of the critics here on the forums.

That said, with two young kids I'd do the MNSSHP, hands down, and I haven't even been to that!

:thumbsup2 Been there, done that (both), and going back to do MNSSHP again! This will be our third return for the MNSSHP but as another poster said, we haven't the real desire to do Spirit again. It was nice... don't get me wrong. My son loved the fire dancer and the food was good. IMHO, Spirit is a one time need-to-do. MNSSHP is just TOO much fun when comparing the two. If I had to choose only one - and having young children - my vote is for MNSSHP. Whatever you decide, have a great trip!

I've been to BOTH...DEFINITELY pick MNSSHP over the Luau!!! It is SUCH a fun time, especially for the kids! You won't regret it!!! And you won't have to waste a park day to get in...just use your MNSSHP ticket to enter the park at 4pm! :thumbsup2
